No.

You don't deserve that title.

  • 03.07.2012 10:55 AM PDT

Screw you, and the title is for being in the forum for roughly 3 years, you don't just get them for posting a video of being killed by a traffic cone. It doesn't separate me from you in anyway. What does is that you don't have the heart to watch a half hour video.

No sorry. Too busy caring for a child.

How about 30,000 abducted African children? Sent to war and forced to killed their parents? Girls forced into prostitution, boy's murdered for running away? You can't care about them? You disgust me.

Not my country not my problem. I have my own issues and My issues come first, such as school and work.

The person who said participating is important, not winning, obviously never won anything.

You are so naive it's not funny.

You want to care about these things? Fine, starting caring about these problems that happen all over the world, and in which many aren't even known about or cared about.

There are conflicts that are worse and have been lasting for hundreds of years in which people around the world don't even care or know about, but someone posts some stupid -blam!- about this warlord, and now the world acts like care and those who don't are monsters?

How come you guys didn't care about this before? It's not like this was kept under raps. -blam!- please, stop acting so naive. Nothing is going to change with what each of us can do. Many countries around the world have tried to take drastic measures against these things and nothing has changed. A warlord is simply replaced with another one. Food is taken by the warlords. It has been going on longer than you can fathom.

Are you serious? Don't act like you care about this now and take the moral high ground. You want to help? Go to those countries and get in the thick of it like some people actually do. Don't tell me were monsters for doing exactly the same thing you are.

I know that this is an important topic to yourself, myself and many, but that personal importance doesn't override the rules.

There is already a topic about this in the Flood. I understand what you're trying to do, but there is a place everywhere for this, and on Bungie.net, that is Groups and the Flood.

Exactly. Grow up.

Don't talk about things and act like you care and insult others if you can't even defend you're position, and you simply dismiss those who disagree with you with an immature posture.

The irony here being America being the one taking the most action here, and me being 15 years old in a the UK and trying to help something by spreading something important to bring it to the worlds attention that I physically cannot help. I took the moral ground when you refused to watch the video and even give the founders of this organisation a chance to at least have you spare a thought. I found out about the video this afternoon after getting home from school. I watched the video instead of playing games, and took it upon myself to share it on social networking sites and a site with people who I thought would care about world affairs rather than games. So this means I found out about it today. Everyone has to find out about it some time, including the founders of the organisation. I thought someone on this site could selfless. Instead of being a selfish prick.

Not really helping your argument here. Now, after making accusations galore, you have just stated that you are just as green in this area as the rest of us.

I may not approve of what's going on, but honestly, unless people start taking out this warlord's assets, there isn't much that ordinary civilians can do.

First of all, if you want to help, you can start by posting this in the right forum and not spamming it and forcing this down peoples throats.

If this were something different, people would care, but this has been taking place for HUNDREDS of years since the decolonization of Africa. Nothing has changed since then, and you think a bunch of people raging at their computer screens and talking smack are going to change a thing when diplomacy, military forces, and international pressures haven't been able to do anything.

I think it's fine that people try to get others to know about the news, but what do you honestly think we can do about this? If you want something serious done, send a letter to your president or prime minister and tell them to get their -blam!- straight and to take action. Regular people on the internet canno't do anything that would be effective.

If you really want to help and take such a moral high ground, go to Africa and try and solve it yourself like many others have tried to do, and in which some have died in the attempt. Sitting on your computer is going to do nothing. If not, plan for the future, do good in school and study politics or whatever and do something about this. Other than that, you can't help, and insulting people isn't going to help your case.

Don't do anything you wouldn't want to have to explain to paramedics. Trust me, I'm a pilot.

OP,

I can appreciate this cause is important to you. Each of us has their own beliefs and values, and they all hold importance to a greater or lesser extent to each of us. Now, here's my problem.

While the cause, I'm sure, is very important to you, it in all likelihood does not hold the same amount of significance for every other forum-goer. I've gotten so many spams about awareness for this cause, to be honest, I'm tired of hearing about it. While awareness is great, that's all it is; awareness. Were it that I could actually do something, like send some money or supplies, as in disaster relief, it would be a different story. However, being on the exact opposite side of the globe, where I cannot do anything to help in any way, I really can't expect myself to be interested.

I'll admit, I'm not familiar with the intricacies of all of this, but I do know myself well enough to know that I can't get involved with anything if I don't see any real-world results. I can wish all I want for my problems to be resolved, but unless I take direct action to resolve it, my problems will remain; I can't wish them away. Additionally, as much as I would like to have the time to sit through a half-hour video, I don't. I'm a high school student, and am heavily involved in a lot of extracurricular activities. I would like to spend countless hours in front of a computer screen watching touching videos like yours, but I don't have the time, nor the patience.

Finally, this forum is to discuss the universe and canon of Bungie's games. In case you are unaware, your topic relates to the real world. An appropriate place to create this topic and promote awareness to your cause would be in The Flood. It is frequented by many, and would fit the topic requirements.

Call me heartless if you will, but in my own personal opinion, I am not heartless, but realistic. OP, I wish you all the best of luck in promoting your cause, but please, at the very least, stick it in the Flood or on a social media site, where more people who are interested will take notice.

"Find where the liar hides, so that I may place my boot between his gums!" - Rtas 'Vadum

The points in the video are being missed by many people in this thread. Removing Kony is not the ultimate goal; it is a means to an end. The goal is to show how the rise of information technology and social networking can bring people from across the world together and to force international action by constantly bringing these matters to the attentions of their politicians. A lot of people think that their vote is useless on its own, and so do nothing. What they fail to perhaps consider is that maybe millions of others feel exactly the same way.

In order to care about something, you first have to know about it. With the rise of I.T., social networking and the 24-7 media, more people than ever before have the capability to be informed about something. This was not possible even 20 years ago when the internet was but a pale shadow of what it is today, to say nothing of the hundreds of years that someone else blabbered on about. The next step is getting people to stop with their daily lives and read about it. Just knowing is not enough, presentation is important. To get people to care, it has to connect in a profound way. Just laying down the facts is not enough; saying how 30'000 children have been abducted is not enough. That is just a number at the end of the day. Put a Human being behind that number and show the visceral impact and Human cost and then maybe people will begin to get angered and outraged by what they see. Seeing the impact that was left on a teenage boy after being forced to watch as his brother got pinned down and had his throat slit is far more powerful than just saying "30'000 kids were kidnapped".

Afterall, that is what is happening over there. It is as close to the truth as you will get without getting obscenely graphic. People don't actually know what is happening in these places; their knowledge going no deeper than "A war criminal killed some people, traffics prostitutes and abducts a lot of children". It is no wonder people don't care.

Also, anyone who comes onto a video game board and says that they are too busy to care is trolling. They must be trolling. All that is asked in this particular instance is to join a Facebook group, sign a petition or donate money electronically. Not to run a Marathon or climb a mountain; not to write a speech and stand in a street proselytizing. The goal is to show how global online communities such as Facebook, with "populations" far larger than most countries in the world, can be just as effective in putting pressure on world leaders as any other means of protest. If so, then it has the potential to transcend borders and bring millions together on a matter unlike ever before.

It seems many people unfortunately missed that point in their teenage, hormone induced emotional state. You may not agree that it will be succesfull in its goal to show the power of the internet; that's fine, but please, know what the video is talking about before going on your bull-blam!- rants.

Don't stress over these guys OP, they are just the types who hate showing emotions and feel weak for it. This makes them seem very selfish, but it is all a front. I refuse to believe that deep down anyone is that much of a bastard, lol.

Don't try to justify your causes, you've done everything you need to do. you know yourself you have done the right thing. it is up to others whether they accept it or not. If they don't watch it here hopefully they will eventually see it elsewhere as this gets more viral, and you are helping to achieve that.

Maybe they had a bad day. The point is you did the right thing. These guys don't see the whole point to the KONY 2012. Just because there are many more issues that go unnoticed, doesn't mean this one doesn't deserve attention. By making this issue "visible" it shows that the world has the power to fix bad issues in the world. it shows that we can point our focus to any number of these of issues that have been going on for hundreds of years even, in time.

Kony is to be seen by as many people as possible. Even if it means. Many people don't pop into the flood section, for what ever reasons. That means they would not see it otherwise. That is why it needs to be posted everywhere.

to the guy above me, you miss the whole point still... That is a very subjective term and you know it. OP does good and helps every time he passes on and shares information like this. It may reach the ears of people who never would otherwise hear, and it spreads the message faster.

The smugness in this thread is to much! You sound like the brainwashed Americans who believe that they have no power as citizens. Yeah right. We have ALL the power, together. believe me.

Stop all being so cynical.(ah yes, that is why i left this forum, to many mood teenagers who think they know everything about the world, lol)

tip to you op: give up on this forum. It is FULL to the brim with narrow minded people. Even if you clearly explain things to them, they will only want to see it their way.
