Subject: Would you still come to the forums if we had to pay a subscription?

This man, this man right here put it so eloquently that I actually cancelled my own 2000+ word long post.
/slow clap for respect

:)
The person who said participating is important, not winning, obviously never won anything.

Hell no.

I can't even pay for decent internet, the hell I'm going to be paying for B.net. If there was more to it than just what there is now, then perhaps, but I still doubt it then.

Trying something once will increace your chances of success, because you tried it. Try someting twice, and your chances increase yet again - seeing as you've done it. Try something a few thousand times, and your chances of success is exponentially increased; this increase would likely provide success every time

I don't think forums should cost, especially forums that help Bungie get input for their next games and improving the site.

Very reasonable enough, how about a twist on the idea? Not to pull the rug under our OP, but just to expand the discussion.

Users who would pay could: Use select forums for Pay-To-Post peeps, a new array of avatars and user skins, a higher chance of getting a Beta Invite (only by a few percent), and of course a sweet little 7th Column next to our names.

Users who don't pay would have the experience we have now - as it is.

It's a lot more ethical, and you'd be paying for perks. I'd imagine after 7 year Pay-to-poster would earn a custom avatar....

Someone that does something, somewhere.

Not really worth it, IMO.

Probably not.

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

That would be a cool thing for the Bungie <3 foundation. You could buy the right to use a custom avatar and forum title.

It costs Bungie nothing really and it would make money.

If I am not posting, then I am reading what you might have posted.

I remember something similar to this, it had to do with titles, you would have to pay so and so for it. Silly.

OT: No.

Feel free to send me messages, please be willing to wait 6-8 years for a reply.

1-7 hours if you at least tried to make it readable.

Immediately if you are Yax, Telec, or legendary.

Never if you are mythic, you guys smell funny.

Not a chance.

Simple enough, if the forums weren't free, would you still come here?

Say Bungie charged $5 a month to play on their forums. Would you still be here?

Yeah. I probably would. I paid for Bungie Pro, I'd pay to use their Forums.

With that said, if there were a Free side and a "Premium" side to the Forums, then the Premiums had better get some kick ass benefits...

;)

Paying right away for a custom avatar is just crazy, that's something that's earned - which is what makes it awesome.

Just a quick thought though - consider there isn't an option to not pay; the Bungie Foundation could still reap the profits, the benefits in my previous post would still apply, a Bnet email would definitely be a possibility, and best of all - you'd be paying for a website geared towards you 100%, not like the measly 98% we have now.

Does that change anything? Knowing that you'd be getting what you pay for, and then some?

Absolutely ($5 isn't bad), but the idea is ridiculous.

I agree with this, but I think that should include something like Bungie pro for example or some other feature.

I would have to think about it for awhile to weigh everything out first.

this topic has been discussed before, thought i'm not sure how far it went...

also, 5$ a month is a bit much, perchapse a yearly fee would work better, in my opinion but that depends on how frequently you visit and how long you plan on staying for someone that only sticks around for a few months, it might not make much sence, the ones that believe they are here to stay, i think it would be a better option. So here we go...

free
a monthly fee
a quartely fee
and a yearly fee could be implemented

definately some perks would have to be implemented to justify the charge and don't even get me started on that (there is probably about 10 running around in my head right now).

and than...
we introduce levels
oh my goodness, immagine the possibilities o_O

i've noticed quite a few here said "no" but i wouldn't be surprised that once implemented and established those same people would start having second thoughts about upgrading.

lastly, the question remains, would it be fair to Bungie to spend (probably) an insane amount of time and effort creating this "upgrade", this Hot, Sexy, Delishious upgrade only to find out that 15% of our members go for it and than there is also the true question we're all thinking... how much ?

... so D1Mik, would you do it ?
only if you tell me "how much ?" and what for

  • 03.07.2012 3:37 PM PDT

I like video games, Jesus, music, and love my girlfriend. :) PM me, we'll talk.

Goodness, no! lol

There comes a time in every mans life... and that time is not now.

Hell no. I'm not paying $5 just so i can type responses on here.

Second thread on this forum today that's giving me a reason I would never come here, lol.

*Raises hand*
Is mayonnaise a lotion?

Nope. Even if this place is fun now, as soon as people drop out for the completely reasonable reason of not wanting to pay to use a forum there would be next to no activity here, so it wouldn't be worth sticking around.

  • 03.07.2012 4:10 PM PDT

Key

Only if the cost was -$1 or less.

hehe... loopholes.

  • 03.07.2012 4:14 PM PDT

We miss you Logan.
Ask any question. I'll help with anything on site or off.

No. Why would I pay for a forum, that I can't even use my own picture?
On a serious note, if it was like 99 cents, I would take it into consideration.

Who the hell do you think I am?

Since when do people have to pay to take part in forums?

  • 03.07.2012 4:18 PM PDT

Now, in the quantum moment before the closure, when all become one. One moment left. One point of space and time.

I know who you are.

You are Destiny.

Nobody in their right mind would possibly ever consider paying to use an online forum. The entire idea is absolutely ludicrous.
