Subject: BR > DMR.

(Note: Disclaimer: Flamecounter: This is related to Reach, do not flame with "take it to the 343 forums")

You know. The BR is coming back in Halo 4 and it ignited complaining from Reachtards galore. You know why the BR is returning? Because the real halo community (not the Reach community) wants it to. Because it's better. Because it takes more skill. Why do you think Halo 3 had a bigger skillgap? Why does the DMR take little skill? Because it's random. Even the ZB and 85% Bloom DMR's are still inferior to the BR. ZB and 85% still take more teamwork than individual skill.

"A single-shot precision weapon will always take more skill than a burst fire precision weapon. You only get one shot to hit." You also get to spam and don't have to adjust your strafe like you do with the BR. With properly applied bloom, it still slows gameplay with slow rate of fire unlike the BR. That is all.

Halo 4 BR >. Discuss not, just recognize.

Agreed. All the changes are good and add variety. Do we really want another Halo 3? Just running around with one gun and no armor abilities? It's good that 343 wants to try something new. Do we really want the same thing for three more games?

Only if it's hitscan. If not,

H2 BR> everything

EDIT:

H4 BR will be hitscan, but will have 'recoil'.
When shot, it will rise in a "predictable and suppressible" way.

I'm not sure what to think of this.
Oh, and armor will have an effect on gameplay.

Only regret is I didn't play more of it.

If you haven't noticed by now, I'm sort of a jerk.

So they have one good thing, and another 10 bad ones. Not making Halo 4 look any better.

-343i, like Bungie, is listening to casuals.
-Power Weapons on random spawn times.
-Attempting to give a canonical reason as to why red team and blue team fight.
-Pretty much ignoring everything someone says to try and aid gameplay competitively.
-So far, they seem to be focusing too much on making the game look pretty rather than work.
-See Reach's March update (more reasons under that).

I'll let someone else take over, honestly Halo 4 is, so far, so uninteresting to me I don't bother to even read most news stuff put out on it.

EDIT- Some more:
-New Spartan generation (Spartan IV).
-343i deciding to dump on canon already.
-Customizable Loadouts.
-Armor is no longer purely cosmetic, now they have functions.

I like ZB DMR. It promotes teamwork. Individual skill in a TEAM game? lol

I just like the Br better because it is triburst not single shot. The dmr is more like a little sniper rifle than anything. Don't get me wrong I do think it was a good idea, but the br stands out more than the dmr.

Exactly. No skillgap in a COMPETITIVE game? lol. It is all about individual skill. That is skillgap. WTF man, you are wishing bad on Halo 4.

ZB DMR = random
BR with spread = not random

Is this what you've learned in your 900 games of LD? lol

My stats in Halol 4

Typical Waypoint post.
no it's "its got to go" you wouldn't say the "it is got to go" would you?

I'd rather have a consistent single shot weapon than a retarded weapon that constantly loses bullets midflight.

Not to turn this into a Halo 4-exclusive thread, but what are the 10 bad things?

I mean, you can't judge what they're doing with Halo 4 based on what they're doing with Reach. Reach isn't a priority to them, and they're not gonna go out of their way to fix it. They could risk losing the little population Reach has left if they make competitive changes.

And they said in the Halo 4 first look video that they're making multiplayer spaces completely focused on competitive aspects. That is huge. If they were listening to casuals, would they have done that? We'll have to see.

Individual skill = skill gap now?

What? the 3sk Magnum creates horribly unbalanced gameplay, it is spammable and random at times just like the DMR. Anniversary classic is horrible. Unbearable.
BR> 3sk Magnum. Trying to invalidate me because of LD, just look at my stats game by game on multiple playlists, not a scrub.

So you're saying that team-oriented games have a lower skill gap than games that depend on individual skill?

Yes, you can. They're updating the most casual Reach playlists while removing the (slightly) more competitive ones. Casuals can play a competitive game just fine (see, Halo CE, 2, and 3 for reference. 2 and 3 had more people online years after release, than Reach did 6 moths after launch).

They said that, yes, but Bungie also said that Reach would be amazing. You can't go off of what they say, as much as their actions; which as of now are pointing in a very casual direction. If they were listening to competitive players, mods wouldn't ban anyone who disagrees with "Reach is amazing and 343i is the best company ever". Also, Arena would have had an update by now.

Read all the points, not just the last one.

somewhere in the heavens...they are waiting. I love the Marathon Trilogy.
Halo CE will always be the best game in the Halo franchise. What a perfect game.
(Proud LONGTIME owner of the PC and Xbox versions of Halo CE)

Something I noticed the other day when playing Halo 3 is that the BR is massively satisfying to kill someone with, it had been a while since I played so I complete forgot the amazing sensation!

They said they're making PW spawns random, and having them show up on radar, so competitive players don't have an unfair advantage over the BKs. Do you consider knowing the rockets spawn every 3 minutes at the middle of the map unfair or common -blam!- knowledge?
And they're adding customizable loadouts - aka choose your own x-men character
No word on ranking, although making MM fair for casuals playing competitive players indicates that ranking systems are unfair too. (ie we'll be lucky if we even get an arena)

So yeah - enjoy your BR with bloom, magnetism like you're sitting in the passenger seat of a Revenant, and a strawberry flavor grenade launcher attachment that freezes time and transforms vehicles into ponies. Because that's what the 'competitive' population they're listening to want.

Honestly, I dont think the "true", and I say true reluctantly, Halo fans care that much about the return of the Battle Rifle. Its more of a "Oh, thats convenient.... I hope" situation.

I, for one, dont want one weapon to predominate MM like the Battle Rifle has done in Halo 3 (didnt say Halo 2 because people still alternated weapons frequently). I want to see a diversity in weapons being used.

My recognition on the Halo 4 Battle Rifle? IDK, I havent used or experienced it yet :P
