I find that in most forums around the net, way to much emphasis is places on "How long you have been here". I guess its a way for "Veterans" to distinguish themselves from the "n00bs", who in their own right have done nothing wrong but sighn up at a different time than the veterans. Just being a "Vetran" does not gaurentee someone being intelligent, constructive, or mature. Their are *probably* (maybe just maybe) some intelligent and helpfull n00bs around lurking on these forums and forums alike. If we were going to merit anything, it should be Constructiveness, maturity, and overall behavior. If you flame, troll, and just be childish, you shouldnt gain any "rank".
While I have yet to see a veteran user who is immature or unintelligent, I agree with your point regarding helpful new people.
Surely, Rip Saw, Creating this group of 'Older' users would create this elitist society (unintentionally of course, I have 'spoken' to many of you older dudes via the PM system, and I know you would not intentionally yadda yadda yadda you know exactly what I was going to say) and many users would feel left out/angered etc by this, and a rift may grow in the community.
No, I dislike the idea of this 'Greater class' of memebers, who decide who gets what titles. Maybe the titles could be adjusted at random (with the users permission of course) to a title that suits their particular style etc. I don't know who would monitor this however.
How about we make a group of older users that could monitor this? It would be a great idea.....
EDIT: My apologies, I misread, you said the coolest members. Still, who decides who is super elite cool? (or however you put it)
