No I'm not pissed off by this. I am aware that there are Mech's else where in the Halo Universe i.e some of the books?

It doesn't seem out of place, in-fact I think it's a very good addition to the game and we might even get to use it in the campaign or Hal0 5 or something?

Look at it this way, its not a battlemech, its an exo suit loader.

Well, considering Spartans are technically wearing micro powered mechs, I've got no problem with it. It could just be a mech for loading things, seeing as it was established in Halo lore that large power suits where basically abandoned for combat roles as they where too costly and their turnouts weren't the best.

Just so long as they make it look industrial and not "mech" looking, I'll be okay with it.

It isn't cannon
Explain.

Self explanatory, it's spelled "Canon."

Anyone else pissed off by this?

The thing I've always loved about halo is how it seems plausible (to a certain extent) and seeing -blam!- like his just really kinda kills it for me...

Forerunner War Sphinxes
MJOLNIR Mk I
MJOLNIR Mk II
MJOLNIR Mk III
HRUNTING/YGGDRASIL Mark I Prototype ADS
HRUNTING Mark III [B] Exoskeleton

Oh yeah, mechs are totally out of place in the Halo Universe... Though I should mention that in an interview (see the 343i update on their homepage,) Frankie says that the Cyclops II is not operable for players. This I personally find regrettable, but he also said there would be vehicles that comparatively dwarf the experience. Perhaps we get to pilot a War Sphinx?

If so, that section of the game will be... well, there are no words to describe it.

Also, most of the above list are not true mechs, but more powered armor than anything else. The Cyclops is a true mech.

Most of the ones listed above are really similar to the Cyclops though, in fact, the HRUNTING Mark III [B] is the Cyclops, the only difference between the MJOLNIR Mark I through III and the Cyclops is that they were not made by the Marines.

Oh. All I'm familiar with is the HRUNTING/YGGDRASIL powered armor, also known as the Spartan Epic Stomp Suit.

And the Cyclops. Fail unit, the Cyclops is.

Discuss the mech in Halo 4. (as seen in the multiplayer footage)

BTW I knew just as I saw that part of the ViDoc that all the Mech vs Tank debaters would start tearing themselves to pieces over it.

I feel ya man. I enjoyed the mythological quality in Bungie's Halo. It already seems like 343 is leaning in the direction of hard sci-fi which is not appealing to me.

Halo 4 will be different for sure. A big change for the series.

The Cyclops is a true mech.

That is up for debate I think.

I can't remember the exact wording for the site, but there was a wiki page dedicated to Power Armor and Mechs.

Based on their descriptions of both, something like the Cyclops, or the APU from The Matrix series, is right on the dividing line between the two. A mech was considered to be more like this where the vehicle was driven with controls, rather than driven by the users own movements. The Cycopls is considered too big to be battle armor however, so which of the 2 it falls under is really anyone's guess. It enhances the abilities of the user, but is far larger than any battle armor could be and still be of use.

For everything remains, AS IT NEVER WAS."

It's not a mech, its an exosuit used as a loader, like what Ripley uses in the end of Aliens, just infinitely better.

There are already mechs present within the canon.

That is more of a power suit than a mech. Its more like MJOLNIR combined with the Iron man outfit, with an overkill on weapons.

Technically those are both Mechs as they are "Mechanical." They are not automated mechs, but they are mechs. We've got user-guided mechs (Avatar, Aliens, the Matrix,) and piloted mechs (Mechwarrior.)

Plus they can make a Toy out of it, to add to the other endless amounts of Tat they spew out, which seems to be the drive nowadays.

Halo 3 was chapter closed for me on the Chief, this Halo 4 is already looking a bit over boiled for my liking. The vid doc was all a bit pious "oh look aren't we brilliant, we have all this history to abuse".

Good Luck 343!!

And what does that mean? If you're talking about the multiplayer: Jesus it's not that big of a deal. Why would they not set multiplayer maps in random locations from all over the universe? It makes no difference but to allow new and interesting locations to play in, as well as expanding lore.

Halo 3 did the exact same thing with it's maps, you don't complain about that.

All I'm hearing is, is that it's somehow a bad thing that 343i acknowledges the existence of all these locations and all of this backstory.

I could not agree with you more. If the Mech is on the map, yet inoperable, there's no damn problem... I think we should be able to use Mechs in Halo 4, it'd be great. Althought, perhaps only in the campaign, as it'd add an unfair multiplayer advantage to anybody using one.

My spartan is different now XD

Thats in Halo Legends isnt it? because thats the prototype and when ghosts squad is getting overrun he comes out in that and blasts everything but then he ends up having to self destruct by saying the thing he is not, *human*

Its the cyclopes (mark II?) from Halo Wars. It's not useable. Relax.

  • 03.09.2012 5:26 AM PDT

Oly Oly Oxen Free

Looks like a half finished cross between the mech suit from legends and a cyclops.

It won't be in gameplay. Like the construction parts on Assembly, all just for show.

I think the mech is awesome, I wonder if you jump in the way of the arms buidling the mech you'll be killed.

It's a cyclops (MKII) which totally fits in with cannon.

I wanted to cry when I saw that the first time.

Please can they keep that -blam!- away from halo?

I wish it was.

You can clearly see weapons

It's obviously not a cyclops, those were loaders, for repairs and such.

This is intended to be a weapon.

Why the hell do 343 think that adding in -blam!- ing gundams makes this cool?

You're right, it's not a Cyclops. It's a Cyclops Mk II.
