I know what bloom is but in all honesty I have no idea what hitscan is or how it differs from bloom.
Enlighten me?

Bullets don't travel. They hit the target as soon as you pull the trigger.

Whereas bloom over a long distance may miss due to the target moving..?

Bloom is when you fire, your reticule expands, causing whatever gun you have to be less accurate - Non hitscan weapons take time for the bullets to travel, hence you have to lead your shots.

I'll die to win ,
Because I was born to lose.

Rocket isn't hitscan, DMR is hitscan. If that over simplification helps.

Bullets essentially travel at the speed of light.

Makes the game semi-playable on foreign hosts.

Basically the lack of hitscan makes it more difficult to hit targets at huge ranges. To reduce the range of the DMR Bungie gave it bloom. The BR's range was reduced by making it a non-hit scan weapon and giving it bullet spread in Halo 3.

I think that for zero bloom or 85% bloom to be implemented properly hitscan needs to take a walk... otherwise the DMR becomes a sniper effective at any range. I still prefer TU over vanilla though.

Yep, try taking out a target with a Plasma Pistol at a long range and then use the Dmr. You'll see the difference xD
