If you want to single handedly pay for servers, and support them, be my guest. Also, do you think Bungie hasn't bee ntrying to stop cheaters?

It would be nice, but only if matchmaking stays the way it is. Matchmaking in Halo 2 is the only reason I keep playing it.

Also, Bungie has been trying to stop modders (Note the word "trying" for the keyword.) They haven't been very succesful though.

Well, this has been stated about 6,756,321 times before. However, that doesn't make it any less true. IMO, it's not just an answer to the problem, it's the only answer. It would also do away with lousy hosts, host advantages etc. If MS is serious about pushing online gaming and connectivity as the future of gaming, they need to provide this service. There's a lot of ways it could be paid for without having to charge more for XBL.

If this is not implemented in Halo 3, I will be seriously dissapointed. Sure I'll still buy it anfd play the hell out of it, but it will get really sour really fast once we walk down the same path H2 went, which will certainly happen regardless of what protection of cheat detection Bungie puts in place.

FInally, I'd like to say that about 8 months before H2 shipped I made a post in here about how they need to have a public demo to test the MP. My logic was that testers, regardless of their experience and/or prefessionalism, do not have the same mind set as a player. I think the standby fiasco is proof enough of that. NO ONE EVEN THOUGHT to manipulate the game outside of it's code. This is understandable. However more than just that was missed. Furthermore, a group of testers simply can not create the kind of intellectual forve that a group of a few million hardcore players can when it comes to finding bugs/exploits/glitches etc.

I think we can all agree that had Halo 2 been play tested prior to shipping, by the mass market, Bungie would've discovered standby and various other cheats and been able to address them before shipping. They also would have been able to tweak the nades, meless and everything else that happened a little too late. Had these tweaks been a part of the game when it shipped rather than a 1.1 update, it would have been better for all.

Please Bungie, don't make the same mistake twice. With the level of complexity in these games today there is simply no good substitute for a public beta test. 1 or 2 maps, 2 games modes, and you'll learn a lot about your product before you master it.
