HAHAHAHA!! its a talent long lost but I can care less what color his armor is but I did notice in the screen shots that his legs are covered in dirt which makes me think do they become dirty over time or are they just made that way at all times

Looks like a shade of green to me, I don't see why everyone says it's yellow.

Or maybe, just maybe dont slate me for this, that its the same armour he has had since he was first issued it in the book Halo first Strike? And his original Armour has just been upgraded. Well i cant imagin the brain boxes at UNSC making new armour for MC when Reach was glassed where they developed the armour.
Any thoughts?

I think that his colored and scared armour isn't from any of his battles. I think his new armour is actually a forerunner battle armour found before the Spartan project. Dr Haisley could have used this as a blueprint. This theory would also explain why 343 Guilty Spark recognized the MC's armour, calling him "The Reclaimer". I feel that 343 mistook MC as a Forerunner instead of what he really was. Also MC has gone through many years of fighting and his armour was still green at the end of Halo 2. I dont think that a couple of plasma burns would have changed the color of it, because in The Fall of Reach, Sam was hit by a plasma shot and it burned a hole straight through his armour, charring it black and not causing discoloration.

-blam!- Rage

Remember the end of halo 2, he went through that energy thing to get on the ship, well maybe that made the defect in his armor.

In the third book MC was hit by a convenant cruisers plasma turret, I think that might have been sufficient to cause the fading.

I can't believe this thread isn't locked yet. After reading the posts in here I've come to the conclusion that 95% of the people here are:

A) color blind
B) have cheapo monitors/tvs
C) uber nerds

Come to think of it, those Banshees don't look purple to me, they look more like a PANTONE 153.

"Your destruction is the will of the gods, and we are their instruments."

If the armor had indeed been damaged during the flight on the Forerunner ship, then the famage could be seen in the end -> http://halocinema.bungie.org/halo2/31_finale.mov

I think that the coloud can be explained guite simply. In the beginning of Halo 3, MC gets out of the Forerunner ship and meets someone on a human ship, who gives him a new armor, witch is of a different colour. The colour may indeed be camo.

He did the same thing in Halo and nothing happened to his armour.

The books don't follow the same story line as the games.

If you're going to follow the books, then you would know that a hunter's plasma cannon was enough to blow off a spartans arm. Don't you think that a hit from a cruisers plasma turret might do a bit more than cause the color to fade?

Exactly. The armor they base the MJOLNIR off of is the Elite's armor system, and the Jackal's energy shield which are both originally Forerunner Tech.

It's not a new suit of armor that he's wearing though...it's just his armor either with the new kickass graphics, OR his armor with the Battle Damage he recieved from Halo 2 (they never add any wear or tear to armor, so maybe now they decided to make it more realistic and make his armor lok they way it truly would.)

Heres what I think. Everyone remember how shot he MC's armor was after halo 1? Well, considering how much he did in halo 2, his new armor would have been messed up just as much if not more. SO perhaps when he reached Earth, he needed to go into combat, but his suit had stopped functioning effectively. So, he used the only armor he could find, the REALLY old version that didn't even have sheilds yet. This would explain the colour, the lack of those sheild emmiter lights, and the different gauntlet.

Oh and as for the bit about the cheif getting hit by a cruiser plasma cannon, it didnt hit hm. It hit about 10 meters away from him, and the heat wash from that shot is what damaged/injured him.

MC was in his old Mk V armor in FIrst strike, and in addition he wasn't hit by the cruiser's plasma turret, or he would be vaporized. The thing hit the Apparition (sp?) and then the explosion caused two SPARTANs (I believe) to be MIA, MC finishes repairing the conduit and then passes out.

Yes they do, in every aspect. They come straight from the Halo bible.
