I have a 2005 Dell Dimension 4700 but i haven't taken a peek inside though. The mother board is probably one of the bigest single-sized board that you have(it will be inside the computer btw). take a look at the other guys pic. thats roughly what it will look like. then tell us if you have any of those slots or not. what would be most helpful is if you took a pic with a digital camera or something and then put it on imageshack or something like that. that way we can tell you what kind of slot you have.

My Geforce FX 5200 Does juuuust fine.

Yep.
I used to have one till it burned because my power supply failed. (It took the harddrive with it)
Now I have a 6100 FX (Geforce)
But, yeah that should work.

the GeForce4 MX440 is a bad card. my friend has one in his computer, and his Call of Duty looks ugly with that card. eh, at least now you have a 6600GT i8pptu. =)

I haven't upgraded this computer for a long, long time. The last upgrade was when I bought this MX440, some time ago. I was told that it's quite possibly the lowest of the series.
I thought it wouldn't even START to process Call of Duty. Unless you mean the first... Lol. Then I understand.

The 5500 can't pull 30fps at 800x600.
The FX serious stink. BAD they don't have to power to use Dx9 at be playable. But they are the fastest PCI cards available.(There is a 6200 PCI but its only made for Best Buy. DANG U BEST BUY.)
FXs can render camo effects fine. So idk what the heck your talking about.
The 6600s are good cards for halo. >$90.

I have a a problem in Halo PC.The MC,the grunts and the elites, and everyone in multiplayer(iNCLUDING ME)are grey.I have looked on bestbuy.com to see if there are any video cards that are cheap, and work well(as in having some color in the characters).I have come upon a Geforce FX 5500,which is $70,very cheap for best buy.I have read the Halo PC readme file and it said the video cards need to be DirectX 9.0 comapatible. This is a DX 9.0 compatible video card. But my question is:is this a good video card? Will it make the game a bit colorful and make it look good at the same time?Do you reccomend this or not?

Don't waste your money. Get a 6600 GT AT LEAST.

I have a 6600 GT and it plays Halo with everything maxed out, at 1280x1024 res, and at an average 40 FPS.

LOL yea when ur looking at a wall. IDIOT. I was talking about how the FX series isn't powerful enough to use Dx9 AND give resonable framrates. My FX5500 renders camo effects fine. Not as well as my 6600 (b/c of different res).

ATI works the best for anything, there's no doubt.

Ok what you guys dont realize is that when you see those "Nvidia, the way its meant to be played" logos or whatever, it really isnt that much of a difference. Since theyre open GL based games, nvidia cards get like 2 more fps which is really nothing. You can basically ignore them because its really just advertising.

My Geforce FX 5200 Does juuuust fine. It's my CPU that can't take the heat. If you want a cheap option the 5200 has served me well for quite some time.

However you should get something newer (the whole FX series is really great)

Really?!

I can't play the game with my FX 5500 as my FPS dies when I shoot the AR or something silmiar. (N.B. I've overclocked my ' Card as well).

Look at that.
Higher clocks
Same pixel pipes
Smaller memory interface
(Less memory doesn't matter on cards this unpowerful)
Faster Ramdac (whats a ramdac?)

1.I do not know what camo effects are.
2.ATI's are too expensive(tight budget)
3.I want a video card that makes Halo character models in color and the textures detailed.(I dont care if it does not look HD)
4.The 5500 I am looking into buying is an AGP interface, not PCI.
5.If you could, could you tell me a video card that is so powerful that could run Halo and Halo 2 PC?I know for sure I would make an exception for that.

"Geforce FX 5500:Good choice for Halo PC?"

I have a 6600 and it barely runs HPC right...

You need AT LEAST a 6800gt with 1-2gb ram and at least 2.8ghz processor for it to run like you want.

BTW: If it means anything, I used to have a 5200 and it could barely run it without specular detail and in 640x480 rez...

Wow, something is wrong with your 6600 (Or are u running at like 2536x1600). Mine is at stock speeds and i get >50fps average. Oc'd 63fps average. @ 1280x1080

To: Trigger.
The 5500 AGP is MUCH better then the PCI version.

1. The distortion you see whenever you pick up an active camo. You can only see it with ATi cards.
2.Okay.
3. Go for the 6600 GT at least.
4. Okay...
5. Halo 2 PC will probably need a 6800 GT at the very least. I'd look into getting a 7600 GT if you're on a tight budget, but if you have money to spend get a 7900 GT.

Well,I went to Best Buy yesterday. They do not have the 5500,just a few ATI's,a 6600 OC,6600 GT,7600 GT,and one of the MX's.I have at least $100(maybe even $200,I know I have 100,I have not counted all of my money yet) to use,so which one should I pick?
