Subject: What K/D really means

KD does not show skill....Well it does to some extent If you play competive slayer it show how many times you die anlover kills but I feel if you just go pluse 1 thats good. My KD is 0.90 and I come out on the top of the list or atleast go positive by 1.

However If you play objective then KD mean NOTING At all it's who wins the game that matters. I hate seeing people brag about there 2.00 K/D but when I check there stats they got that in Eather Ojective,BTB,CTF,Multi team.

Yes I know my KD sucks no need to tell me how bad I am at halo reach.
Feel free to add your thoughts.

Life is a journey, if you spend all of it with your nose in your map, you may miss some of the best parts.

K/D is meaningless in MLG. That's it.

im better than u

  • 03.10.2012 3:57 PM PDT

Mediocre Backpacker
56% W\L
2.86 k\d
3.18 DMR
7.29 God Magnum
7.79 Sniper
5.34 Needle Rifle

I end up playing more slayer gametypes in BTB than any other playlist. <Thoughts

haven't you made a thread like this before?

OT yes k/d is important. You're dragging your team down and making them lose if you die more than you kill. They'd be better off without you if you died 20 times and got 8 kills

k/d means something in objective because the first thing in any objective game is slaying the opponent and than going for the objective, if you can't slay in an objective game most the time you aren't going to win. How are you going to win when you're respawning most of the game?

Most of the time in objective you aren't going to have a super high k/d unless you're the main slayer on the team or you're just stating against randoms.

Where do people get the idea that a K/D is a measurement of skill?

I dunno.. Who do you think has more skill, a person with a 1.94 k/d or a person with a 0.59 k/d? It's not an exact measurement of skill but gives you an idea of how good they are.

I seen people with KD of 0.60 and kick ass in 1v1. Yes KD shows skill to some extent.

If you were really good at the game you wouldn't have a 0.92 k/d.. You've died more than you've killed, how is that being really good at the game?

Just saying.. People with negative k/d's usually say k/d doesn't matter and they just play for fun, well every one plays for fun, it's not an excuse to be negative.

k/d doesn't matter because as long as you're having fun playing that's all what matters, you could go 8-15 and still have fun the whole time. But it still measures skill in a way.

Given only the the K/D, Id have to say the first person. I still wouldnt trust it though. Given the fact that there is a wide variety of game types on Halo Reach, a simple ratio doesnt lay much of a foundation to tell whether someone is skilled or not.

yo man ive beaten people with high kds in 1v1s before tons of people are bad at this game

  • 03.10.2012 4:26 PM PDT

Arbitor they outnumber us three to one!
Then it is an even fight.

Arbitor > Arbiter.
Arbitor = Rank above Arbiter.

A big thanks to kids that did this to 343 after they heard they get an infection game mode in halo 4 with no thought of normal playlists.

hmm...seems familiar

And so God called Moses to come forth but he came fifth and was therefore disqualified.

It seems that all the people that say KD doesn't matter are the ones with the KDs below one. It also works the other way. People's KD seems to directly vary with how important they think it is.

Okay.

Guess how much I care about K/D?

Enough to play MLG by myself for almost all my games.

K/D=Nothing at all.

1v1s mean absolutely nothing.

Having a high over all k/d means absolutely nothing.

playlist K/d and w/l is the one thing that can show someones actual skill going off on stats alone.

Not entirely though. Look at my stats. Some would say I suck. I play with randoms 95% of the time, hence my w/l in some playlists is terrible. Doesn't mean I am.
