yo man ive beaten people with high kds in 1v1s before tons of people are bad at this game

1v1s mean absolutely nothing.

Having a high over all k/d means absolutely nothing.

playlist K/d and w/l is the one thing that can show someones actual skill going off on stats alone.

Not entirely though. Look at my stats. Some would say I suck. I play with randoms 95% of the time, hence my w/l in some playlists is terrible. Doesn't mean I am.

having a bad w/l in a slayer orientated playlist but having a high K/d in it would make it obvious you search alone and are a decent player.

its all playlist stats not overall.

So what about the guys like me... bait. I creep up just to scout positions. I draw opponents into waiting ambushes. I play armed escort/meat shield for whoever is running with the objective. My job is to die to put others in a position to be wiped out, and I enjoy it!

Oh, and I have been known to go positive from time to time

I'm listeni- Oh wait I don't give a -blam!- what you have to say.

The only people who say k/d means nothing are the people with bad k/ds. Is it an accurate representation of skill? For the vague part yes. Over 1.5 and you are at least average. Under and you are almost always bad.

The lines blur after that.

The 343 forums suck. They're full of retarded kids and mods who got butthurt in the B.net forums for being told that they're bad.

Since we can't see our Truskill rank, that and W/L are all we have to use.

If it's not broken we'll fix until it is.

It's all about what you play and how you play. I have a k/d of 2.01 and consider myself a below average player but I play smart (for the most part) and don't rush in trading kills, I prefer to pick people off from a distance.

k/d really doesn't mean anything. The only reason people use it as a measurement of skill is because we lost trueskill ranking in Reach. if reach had visible trueskill like in Halo 3 everyone would be judging off of that.

If k/d wasn't viewable in reach then I guess the next thing down the line ppl would judge would be on win/loss. if we couldn't see win loss I bet people would start judging on more absurd things like armor you use or the ToD you have.

I find it all funny lol.

The problem with k/d is it gets harder to change as you go along, so it isn't really accurate of skill.

For example, say someone has a k/d of 0.8, with 8 kills and 10 deaths. He only needs to get 2 kills without dying next match to raise it up to 1.0

Someone with 1600 kills and 2000 deaths needs to be constantly scoring way above 1.0 per game just to increase his overall to 1.0. He may be getting 5 k/d per match, but his overall still says 0.8 because he has to play hundreds of matches to make it go up.

By the time he's done that, he's probably improved drastically at the game, but because of the high requirement his k/d has he will be depicted as a "0.8 k/d scrub" for a long time, because it only gets harder as the numbers get bigger.

Where do people get the idea that a K/D is a measurement of skill?

I dunno.. Who do you think has more skill, a person with a 1.94 k/d or a person with a 0.59 k/d? It's not an exact measurement of skill but gives you an idea of how good they are.
I seen people with KD of 0.60 and kid ass in 1v1. Yes KD shows skill to some extent.
Lol
Lol I ment to put Kick ass my spell check on the iPad is all messed up you could try to type blue and it come out with a word you never heard before.
yeah .6 is magical though. I have not lost a 1v1.

KD does not show skill....Well it does to some extent If you play competive slayer it show how many times you die anlover kills but I feel if you just go pluse 1 thats good. My KD is 0.90 and I come out on the top of the list or atleast go positive by 1.

However If you play objective then KD mean NOTING At all it's who wins the game that matters. I hate seeing people brag about there 2.00 K/D but when I check there stats they got that in Eather Ojective,BTB,CTF,Multi team.

Yes I know my KD sucks no need to tell me how bad I am at halo reach.
Feel free to add your thoughts.

You are bad. Deal with it.

Ever wonder what's up there?

The objective does not matter in a game that rewards the ammont of kills you get and the time you spent playing the game with credits.

Anyone who claims the AR takes skill ought to shoot himself in the head. Preferably with the AR because they'll most likely miss with any other weapon.

Your still bad.
