All you need to know. Well actually, you should also know.. I'm Russian.

My PC is a Russian Toshiba with Windows 7, from previous experience I know Halo 2 should work for W7, but when I started the Halo 2 Startup, and started the installation I just got a message asking me if I want to give the program permission to make changes to my computer which seems normal, and I clicked yes. After that nothing happens nothing at all, I've tried doing the Play Now option, and Custom Install but nothing happens.

What?

As said, Computer Specification, this is your Processor, Ram, Graphics card and Operating system.

For example, mine are Intel core i7 2600k @ 4.00ghz, 8gb DDR3 1600mhz, 1gb GTX 560 Ti and Windows 7 64 bit Ultimate.

If you don't know these, then it makes it difficult for us to identify the problem and help you. To check, go to control panel, system and security, view amount of ram and processor speed and tell us what it says. Your GPU will be either Nvidia or ATI based, worse case scenario integrated.

Yeah. That's right. I don't have a 50 in H3. I never got Onyx in Reach. If a game sucks too much, I won't even bother trying for such trivial "accolades". Besides, I've done way more things that take far more skill and talent than anything that can be done in a video game.

Open the Device Manager (Start, right-click My Computer, Properties, Device Manager) and click the arrow next to Display Adapters. Tell us what pops up.

NVIDIA GeForce GT 525M

Go here: http://www.nvidia.co.uk/Download/indexsg.aspx?lang=en-uk. Then click option 2 to automatically download the correct drivers for your GPU.

If that doesn't work, try updating the GFWL client. Failing that I'm not sure what else to suggest other than making sure you're the admin on the PC.

I'll take on your challenge.

Dell Alienware M14x, Intel Core i7 2820QM @ 2.3 GHz, nVidia GeForce GT 555M, 8 GB RAM and dual-boot Windows 7/Vista.

Anyways, to the original poster, if adjusting your graphics driver doesn't work, then it might be a compatibility issue with Windows 7. Some people have reported problems installing Halo 2 Vista on Windows 7. It's kind of chance whether it'll work perfectly for you. From my experience, Halo 2 vista works fine on all Dell computers with Windows 7. I do see compatibility problems on HP computers with AMD processors though. Not sure if it's directly related though.

My god, I have tried just about everything to play Halo 2 again, I did everything you told me, didn't work, compatability issues I guess. Bought it for Xbox, but it didn't work on my Xbox Slim 4gb, when I tried to play it, I get a message telling me to redownload it(wtf?), or go to xbox/support. So I go to xbox/support, and finally I try removing the harddrive, it works, and then the Xbox starts downloading an update, and I get all excited thinkng I'll finally be able to play H2. So the update takes about an hour; finally when it is finished I insert the Halo 2 disc, and I get a message telling me that to play original Xbox games I need a harddrive, so I insert the harddrive, and I get the same f-blaming- message that I got the first time, so the entire week I'm ape-blam!- angry. Then I realize I could use the Halo 2 XP crack files to download it on my other WXP supporting PC. I do that(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XotEksrJFEI), follow every step, and the game works, I am filled with nostalgia, and immediately start the game. I am told to sign in to Live, no problem, but then updates, and all that -blam- so in the end, I need to update the game or I will be logged out of Live, and I need to be logged into Live to be able to play, and then I get a f-blaming- error message that closes the game, and tells me that their is a command option error, for help type in Command/?. Wow! I am this f-blaming- close, and then all my hopes are dashed to pieces again! If I didn't know any better I'd say Microsoft is conspiring against me.

1. Original xbox games are not compatible for the 4GB Slim Xbox 360's. You either need one of the pre-slim xbox 360's with an actual hard drive or a 250 GB Slim Xbox 360.

2. Halo 2 on Windows XP is technically illegal as you are using a crack. Therefore, don't expect live to work on Windows XP that way since it's cracked.

3. The only guarenteed ways to get Halo 2 Vista to work are to either install Windows Vista or install a clean install of Windows 7. I noticed that OEM versions of Windows 7 might contain weird drivers or settings that causes compatibility issues. But if you do a fresh install without any of the OEM stuff, then Halo 2 will work on Windows 7. That's how I got it to work on every Windows 7 PC that had compatibility issues.

I suggest you try what I suggested in #3. A quick fun fact, Android fragmentation is caused by this exact same reason, but to a more severe scale. Inconsistent drivers cause apps to be incompatible across the same versions of Android. With Windows 7, different drivers can also cause the same incompatiblity with Halo 2 Vista.

A clean install of Windows 7 with the default generic drivers will definitely work with Halo 2 Vista. Install Windows Vista will work too. If you don't want to re-format your hard drive, you can just create a new partition and dual-boot two versions of Windows 7 or Windows Vista.

If he owns a legitimate copy of the software, then no, it's not illegal.

Just try a clean install of Windows 7. Don't use an OEM drivers. Just use all standard generic drivers and nVidia drivers. OEM drivers are what causes fragmentation on Android and to a very small extent, fragmentation on Windows.

You can dual boot a clean version of Windows 7 if you don't want to lose all your current data.

Well, I definitely got one upped. How about these specs then from my other gaming system. See if you can recognize what system it might be:

IBM Xenon PowerPC Tri-Core @ 3.2 Ghz, 512 MB GDDR3, ATI Xenos @ 550 Mhz.

lol I still remember the specs from my first gaming PC back in 1996.

Intel Pentium II @ 1 GHz, 64 MB RAM, nVidia GeForce 256, 800 MB HDD, Windows 95.

Ah the old days, my first ever rig (upgraded for BF2 xD) was an Pentium 4 2.8ghz, 800mb or so Ram and a Geforce 6200 128mb...it was horrible xD.

Since then I've had a laptop with Core 2 Duo 2.2ghz, 4GB DDR3 and a G105m. A PC with a Q8300 @ 3.00Ghz, 4GB DDR2 and GTX 560Ti, to what I have now which is essentially a processor and Ram upgrade xD.

All this over the course of 8 years or so. But we go off topic too much now...

lol agreed. So anyways, to the OP, I really suggest installing Halo 2 PC on a clean install of Windows 7. I'm positive that has to work as long as you don't re install the OEM drivers.
