For The Lulz is a worthier cause than For The Win.
From the skies to the ground, I'm the one that'll reign destruction down on you from behind the wheel and the flight stick. Keep your eyes on the rear view mirror, or you may be eating exhaust aside the road, riddled with holes.
My sniper is hungry for souls.
If at first you fail, fail again so that you succeed by wrapping your fail around the continuum into the win zone.
I'll just copy and paste what I said on TheHaloForum:
You better hope no epileptics watch your montage.
The gameplay was pretty sick, or at least I think it was. Here's the problem. I don't mean to sound harsh, but you're clearly suffering from what a lot of new montage makers are suffering from: drowning the gameplay in effects. I couldn't even tell what was going on most of the time with all the roiling flame, random flares, and jarring color changes. Some of the flares were fine: enhancing natural light and such. But most of them were completely unnecessary and very, very distracting, often literally obstructing the screen. Almost every effect felt like it was just thrown in to add coolness. Don't take this the wrong way, but this really felt like Vegas effect -blam!- rather than an actual montage.
I liked the flow and some of the actual transitions. And the gameplay seemed really good, I just couldn't tell for sure when I was being bombarded by effects. It was severely overedited.
Next time try raising the game audio and syncing with the beat. Screen shaking is (almost always, with the exception of a few truly insane kills) juvenile and annoying. You'll find that if you time the shots with the song, it will not only be satisfying but also far more effective. The simple effect created by timed shots far outclasses anything that anyone can do with screen shakes.
I hope this critique helps. I don't mean to discourage you from making more montages. I see potential for something cool in your editing, but, at present, it was just too inundated with effects for me to like it. This montage could have been great had you just stuck with the little things I saw: cool transitions, nice flow, etc. Keep it simple. Strip all the effects.
Keep at it. I know you worked very hard on this considering how long you spent on it, so, in any case, good work. :)
