as a PC user and fan, ill have to defend PC on what you have said.

you do realize Mac's have developed some new viruses right? it might not be as much as PC's, but its a start. soon, Mac's will have at least half as much viruses PC's have. Mac isnt a guaranteed "anti-virus" hardware. nothing is.

I'd rather have 100,000 viruses and anti-virus software then a machine I can't open up and upgrade.

Can you explain a little more about what you would need to upgrade?

The point of this thread is just discovering how many Mac users lurk in this forum - not arguing on which platform is the best. Let's not be pulled into another childish Mac vs. PC debate!

Just one remark though: there is no such a thing as a dangerous virus for Mac yet. Not one. The few «viruses» someone mentioned are as dangerous as receiving an e-mail message telling you to bash your computer to death :-D

Moreover, that message is even more dangerous as a threat: the Mac does'nt ask you any password to allow you to bash it to death - differently from what happens with the «viruses» for Mac currently around, which need you to type the admin password to allow them to operate... :->

huh? I opened my Mac and added a wireless card. I opened it and upgraded the video card. If I need to, I can add memory, but I've got over a gig of that and have not run out yet. I have empty drive bays that I can fill, but also have not found a need as yet.

Who cares how many viruses are out there? I built two PC's in 2003 and neither of them have ever had a virus (I don't even have Norton running it's RealTime scan, nor do I have a firewall).

It all depends on how you act online; where you go, what you download. I still have a full-system scan run every morning at 3:00am to ensure that I didn't get a virus that I didn't put there. Nearly all viruses get contracted due to the activity of the user and not neccessarily due to the malicious actions of a "hacker."

Sincerly,
Virus-Free PC user.

yes, but as i have posted earlier, it's a start.

The previous Mac platform, (OS 9), had viruses, but never anything like Windows. I doubt that the virus problem on Macs will ever get near what you get with Windows.
