Have you guys seen sony's newly redesigned ps2? Looks pretty cool. I think I'll definitely replace my old broken ps2 with one of these new machines.

I wonder if microsoft will do something similar? Re-design the xbox with a slimmer and sweeter looking case? I could use the room under my tv. ;)

sweet looking. looks like they finally wised up and made it network ready too. i can only hope they shrink down the size on the next xbox. maybe if they use flash memory instead of a hard drive.

They could just use hard drives developed for thin laptops I guess. I mean I've seen some thin laptops.

It's not for me. I like my PS2 the way it is.

However, a smaller XBOX would be cool. They're just too big...

yeah but think about all the advantages of using flash. no moving parts on the hard drive.

the laptop thing gets me too. look at all these laptops. really the xbox isn't much more powerful than most of them. but look at the size comparison. they could have built it smaller. maybe the just needed all the space to help with cooling?

As I understand it, Sony's not even including an option for a hard drive, though I could be wrong.

Still, there's like one game that even requires a hard drive for the PS2, so it's not that big a deal.

Heat was probably a factor, but making electronics thin and small tend to make things expensive.
