If we attract Facebook users here, the only thing that they'll do is bring their ridiculously stupid posts along with them (Not that the flood could get any less intelligent, that is). And trust me, I've used Facebook enough to know that we wouldn't want the people that use it regularly to come here.
Yeah, we don't need Facebook users here to represent stupidity when we have posts like these.

I don't see you doing anything to help our country.
Except sitting at home, naked, eating twinkies, rubbing your hands together going "Heh. Target Destroyed. Mission Accomplished." Oh wait. that's not helping.

Because first of all, pasting those share buttons all over the forums would just look plain ugly.

Second, these forums don't need more people coming here. It's already active enough.
Bold: You have absolutely no idea what a "share" button would look like if implemented on the forums. You don't know where it would go. You don't know how many there would be. You don't know what color it would be. You don't know what shape it would be. You don't know what services it will support.

You. Don't. Know.

Suggesting even for a second that you have ANY idea of what this hypothetical "share" button would look like, how many of "it" there would be (I see no reason to have more than one when the one can have a drop down menu that supports all the different types of social networking sites), or how it would affect the site aesthetically is silly and ridiculous.

Stop pretending to be omniscient on how "Facebook" features will affect the site when you have no -blam!- idea.

Underline: Really? You're ACTUALLY in favor of the purposeful stagnation of the population of the Bungie.net community and, by extension, the userbase of Bungie's games and, by further extension, the popularity of Bungie as a whole?

In the coming months, as long as Bungie keeps to the announcement schedule most people seem to have for them (announcing their next project [Destiny] at E3, Pax, or on Bungie Day), people are going to start flooding in. Because if there's anything we know about Bungie, it's that they can tease a game in a manner that it has almost become an art form.

Sorry, but you can't have Bungie.net all to yourself. This downtime in between games isn't going to last forever and, for many people, the decreased site population is extremely annoying. To say that the population in between games when there's nothing to talk about and hardly anyone here is the ideal population for the site at large is, in my opinion at least, very confusing. Why would you not want more people to enjoy Bungie.net as you have? Why would you want Bungie.net's userbase to be maintained at this incredibly low level?

I'll be eagerly awaiting your response.

before we get anything else we should have a feature that enforces t-blam!- of quotes because -blam!-

I think that some shaking or at least some Chemical X is required, or else everyone would be making it.

Because they are so much of an eyesore right? It appears a lot of people don't realize that there already is integration with these "evil" social networking sites.

Not a bad example, though I am suggesting/proposing/requesting something along those lines only for the OP of a topic.

If anything should be shared, it should be the entire thread, not an individual reply.

  • 03.13.2012 4:37 PM PDT

This is a terrible idea.
Facebook is the work of Evil and that has been proven countless times.

Please don't let it reach this far.

Numerous websites have implemented the Facebook Like button to let Facebook members share their interests, therewith promoting websites or news items. (...) As an alternative business model this allows Facebook to track and trace users and to process their data. It appears that non-Facebook members can also be traced via the Like button. This means that Facebook's tentacles reach far beyond their own platform and members.

I'm not saying facebook is "evil", I'm just saying and hoping that the main features of facebook will remain a part of facebook and not migrate their way over to bungie.net. Can you imagine the chaos that would ensue were users allowed the ability to upload photos?

I would love share features. Being able to advertise or share with just a simple click would be great.

I'd also like a "Like" button on every post/thread. Sometimes I'll have nothing to say within a thread because everything has already been said, but being able to "like" it would be a nice way to still connect myself with the thread.

Posting links manually to threads already happens on Twitter. Adding such a feature would be a great idea. Websites today are more "share friendly" with these integrations. I wouldn't mind even having a Twitter link to everyone's posts - like daz mentioned about Waypoint.

Share the load!

Ah I suppose sharing could work for threads and posts to twitter and Google+ because of the whole "circles" thing, but I still think Facebook intergration is a little off.

Also dislike the idea of likes, whenever this topic gets brought up so does that. Likes could serve a good purpose, to show how many people agree with someone, to end a conversation without the forced several post "Well we had a nice conversation, but I'll have to be going." bit and remove the stupid quote spam.

But although the concept sounds nice chances are it'll devolve into something stupid or pointless. It'll be out of the way so no one will notice it, people will like some things but not others willy nilly making the whole system worthless, people will probably like whore or mistake likes for friends ...

You know, just general faults with all of humanity, ruining all systems.

This whole thread relates to re-tweeting threads or posting them of Facebook to perhaps bring in more members to the site. The guy you quoted was showing how what the OP mentioned might look if implemented onto forum posts. This isn't about posting photos in threads (which won't happen anyway as Achronos has specifically said so), it's about posting Bungie forum content on other sites.

Implying that your ISP doesn't already keep a track of your online activity.

I don't personally care if Facebook knows what I like. I openly let everyone know what I like and what I don't like on the internet already. What possible damage could Facebook inflict upon me simply by knowing my interests? People like you make me laugh.

My link is taken directly from the Reach Service Record page. Those buttons exist without the general uproar that is contained within this thread. My point is, those buttons aren't causing an issue for everyone so why would they cause an issue if they were implemented elsewhere?

In regards to uploading pictures on B.net. One could argue that with the integration of in game assets (screenshots, videos) we have the ability to upload our content. I also fail how to see this is relevant to what I posted above.

They wouldn't. People here automatically assume that an implemented feature (which already practically exists, just in a less noticeable place) whose function is to transmit threads (or posts) to another site which they personally despise, would mean this site would become an instant copy. It won't.

Like I said earlier and will say again, "Facebook features need to stay with facebook." This is my opinion. I did indeed read what the OP had to say and that was my response, stop trying to make me out to look like I don't know what the OP is talking about. I'm against any facebook features being implemented to bungie.net, that is my opinion.
