So I log onto Halo: Reach one day after a day or two break, and begin play my daily dose of BTB. It's the only thing I can stand in this -blam!- pile of a video game.

So I go in and I get this gametype called "BTB Heavies". I'm like, okay, this must be some new, awesome -blam!-, right?

lolno. lolmother-blam!-no.

I am now trying to contemplate 343's thought process when making this cluster -blam!- of a gametype.

First off, on most maps, I find frames skipping. No, not lag. My shots register fine. It's the -blam!- frames. It skips so bad that I feel like I'm playing in 15 FPS (because it IS 15 FPS), and I can barely see anything clearly. I also have the disc installed for any hardass jerks out there that would like to say that the problem's from my side. I've been playing this -blam!- game since it came out. This is the first time it's happened.

Second, there's no skill involved. You always die. Period. Unless you sit in a corner and camp, you will always die trying to go offensive. I usually find myself and my team winning with a high score, yet sometimes I do "good", and sometimes I do bad. I basically have no affect on the scoreboard whatsoever. lolokay

So apparently some bright mind at 343 thought this retard bash gametype would be fun. No, it isn't at all. In fact, I don't even see Bungie releasing gametypes like this if they were still in power over Reach. At least they test their gametypes to make sure they don't -blam!- skip frames. Hurr durr...

To be honest, I would give less than a -blam!- if people didn't pick it so goddamn much. Holy Christ, why does EVERY -blam!- GAME I play have to be this autism orgy?

This isn't fun. This completely ruined the one small dinky thing in Reach that I enjoyed somewhat. This opinion is coming from a person who plays BTB for fun. You know, casual fun, which is exactly what Reach catered (or at least tried catering) to.

Fix this -blam!- sure I can get my 2 hours of Reach gameplay a day. After all, the way this game was before, that was hard enough...

Edit: I started a match while I was typing this thread. When I pressed "submit", it said "game over". I looked at the game stats and I apparently won. okay.jpg

its actually really fun, thats why we play it. it isnt your average tryhard mlg/arena game and it is something to play and have a good time. also there is skill involved and i can name a few games where i mainly used my dmr instead of always grabbing the vehicle and still racked up a number of kills. its a great gametype and aside from a couple bad maps it really the most fun ive had on reach recently.

You thought that was bad, wait until you hear this...

343 thought that removing Squad Slayer was a great idea and now replaced that playlist with some -blam!-e Team Slayer carbon copy known as Super Slayer, but with the TU settings.

I mostly agree.. But you didn't back up your claims with anything but "I'm angry and I don't like it"

I actually like cragmire now, having all the anti vehicle weapons is nice considering their is so many vehicles and the vehicles aren't over powered the whole time.

When I first started playing heavies I didn't like them that much, but it's a nice change from the regular objective btb. There's chaos the whole time, a fun time in vehicles (I rarely use them though) for the people who don't get to use them much, you still get your ground/foot battles, it's nice to have new maps as well instead of playing the same maps we've been playing for months.

Once I learned the maps, weapon spawns, hiding spots and how to play on them it got a lot better as well. I always have fun playing heavies and if I die from rockets/gauss hog/tank it's whatever because that's what the gametype is.

One thing I hate though is when the other team quits out and it's 2 people left for 10 minutes, get boring. But I've only had that happen in probably 25% of the games I've played. And it's not most BTB games where the score is 100-5 or an objective stat game where it's like 300+ kills to 20 kills. I've only had a few games where we completely destroyed the other teams like 200-20 or 200-35.

Plus you don't always die, i've seen many people get rampages and high killing sprees in vehicles even on maps like cragmire. We had a guy we an unfrig in a gauss hog yesterday, I got a rampage perfection on foot and another player got a rampage in the air all in the same game.

The Renaissance Man; The Bigger Fool.

I don't know what you guys are talking about. I played my first BTB Heavies game today and it wasn't bad at all.

Life is a journey, if you spend all of it with your nose in your map, you may miss some of the best parts.

RC Clone is the anti-thesis of a lurker.

I have this problem where the game slows down the rendering to one or two seconds per frame.

It really messes up everything when you can't see what is happening in the game.

Well I guess a change is good once in a while, but what about Graveyard? Can you really call that a heavy map? Hell, even Boneyard plays more of a heavy map than it's so-called heavy variant. There is hardly any change except for a few Splasers, an extra Banshee and Scorpion tank and a Rocket hog. That's pretty much all I know.

I like Delta Facility though.

Graveyard has a Gauss. It's more heavy than Delta Facility.

That map + Asphalt need to go, they both suck and have terrible FPS drops.

Really? I never noticed one to be fair.

I have to admit, on the opposite end of Hemorrage, where the Red's team base is, there is a big-ass area you could end up wandering to, especially in a fast vehicle, you know, the one with the soft-kill zone applied to it. They ought to block that off. I'm talking about Delta Facility, by the way.

I hear Asphalt is terrible, is that true?

Yes Asphalt is bad.

If you play it, don't get in Ghost/Rev/Wraith. You have a pretty good chance that you'll go lightspeed (unless yur a baws). It's also really crammed.

If you don't like it, don't vote for it.. You don't have to play heavies every game.

I'll keep that in mind.

Do 343 actually playtest these maps or do they like to shove'em in and say "Well that's that"?

Damn, wish I was in that game XD

You must confront your inabilities
You must adjust to your capabilities

Cragmire would be much better if the spire wasn't blocked off. So the foot soldiers don't have to be worried about too much madness. Also I feel the falcons have no use with a laser, scorpion, rockets, plasma launcher, and gauss hog. Banshee instead or take out the air.

  • 03.12.2012 7:17 PM PDT

Nubs, just -blam!- shut the -blam!-up. Big Team Battle Heavies is the greatest thing that has happened to BTB, since, the TU. Haha, you get every possible kind of fun in this gametype. Also, if you don't want to play BTB Heavies, -blam!- vote for something else. Hence, why they democratized the Reach vote. -blam!- nub, haha.

Wait a minute...

So if I choose to vote another option (which I MUST have been doing every game I play, but I guess I'm just a psychotic idiot), my vote will automatically invalidate the other votes that clearly outweigh mine?

THANKS MAN!!! Great and enlightening post. You seriously deserve some sort of Peace Prize for it...

It was amazing in Halo 3. The Reach version not so much.

  • 03.12.2012 7:24 PM PDT

I intend to live forever, or die trying,

so far, so good.

It is OK, but not as good as Halo 3 BTB Heavies, as it used normal maps, but lots of vehicles and Heavy Weapons.

I think REACH should have this.

So Blood Gulch, would have 2 Waiths, 2 Scropions, 2 Banshees, maybe even Falcons, and 2 Warthogs, and 2 standard warthogs replaced with either Gauss or Rocket Hogs.

Now that would be fun.

This would apply to all BTB Maps. The new maps are not that great.
