Subject: Banshees

Okay, I am not on here 24/7 and didn't see anything relating really to this but in the trailer we all know that banshees fly above. One particular topic I saw on here rumored that the Elites were on our side, which I think is possible but in this case (if it is unanswered) hinders that arguement. I know that Bungie didn't show anybody in the banshees, and obviously for a reason...my question is what other Covenant force flies the banshee??

The Elites. There were no Pilots in that trailer though. The reason is that Bungie wanted to have as little as possible so the framerate would crash. If you want to see for yourself go here..

EDIT: Brutes do not fly Banshees. They only use Ghosts.

Go play The Great Journey. When "escorting" the Scarab, Brutes are trying to shoot you down.

Who did you think it was, other Elites trying to kill the Arbiter?

Or perhaps its reminiscent of the pilotless banshee from halo 1.

I took this pic a while back. There are no feet hanging out the back, meaning no pilots. Whether this is intentional or not, we don't know.

People seem to forget that this is just an announcement trailer. It's supposed to look cool while announcing the game.

It probably won't have much common ground with the final game. Just watch the Halo 2 announcement trailer and compare how much of that was actually in the final cut of the game.

How do you know it's not Brutes under specific orders?

Brutes escorting the Phantom with possibly a Prophet on board.
Under strict orders to protect the Phantom from enemy fighters.
That the immediate protection of the Phantom is more important than killing the Demon. (Possibly why it looks like the Banshees come close then break off.)

There is just as much proof that there are Elites in the Banshees as there is proof that Brutes are the pilots.

For all we know, the Elites still consider us an enemy, but still want to kill off the Brutes.

My point is, we don't know. We won't know for sure until we play the game (or possibly ever, remember this trailer may hve little, if anything, in common with the final game).

if they were brutes then why werent they shooting at mc they had enough banshees to protect a prophet (assuming there is a prophet in the phantom) and take out the mc.
i believe there r elites in the banshees

You should be able to see the pilot from that angle on the pic. At least the head or back of him. BUt we already they didnt input pilots in from lack of feet anyway. BUt yeah I do beleive if my time in Banshees is enough to go by that we should be able to see more of the pilot from that angle. We should at least see the head also.

So yeah n othing we didnt already knowI guess but still.

going back on topic id say that the scyhawk jumpjet is the best human banshee in the human armada not the pelican cuz its to big

  • 05.25.2006 1:41 PM PDT

It could be that the model used for the video was just the Banshee model and Bungie didn't included drivers because they thought people were just going to watch the video and go sweet we are getting another Halo game. Majority of the time, videos and trailers for games and in games have the characters doing things they don't or cannot do in gameplay. In this case the Banshees are being used as a progression of the rising action in the video, think about it which is more dramatic for a trailer, Master Chief looking over the a cliff that reveals the impending doom of Humanity, or Master Chief running away from Banshees?

But in my opinion I dunno wtf is going on in the video. Haha

Ok this should probaly salve evry thing. Enny one ever think that maby just maby ther CLOAKED!!!!! I meen like come on guys its only a stooped "ANOUSMENT TEASER TRAILER"

And they probaly would be elites, like wouldent they shoot the MC.
We know for a fact that the Covenet is having a Civil war and at the end of halo 2 the elites joined and help the humans and will probaly continue to help us. so its most likey that those banshees and phantoms are ELITE OWNED and NOT brutes.

Ps: Pluss brutes are too lazy.

Ok, heres my theory. They were brutes flying the banshees. The reason that they didnt shoot the MC is that they didnt need to. After all, what is 1 guy standing on a cliff going to do to stop a big @$$ structure a mile away from activating in the next 5 seconds? Not a whole lot. Its also possible that they were so intent on reaching the building, that they didnt even see the MC.

And anyway, why would the elites be there anyway? It seems pretty obvious at the end that they don't want th Ark ( if that's what it is) activated. So why would they be guarding the people who are activating it?
