Multiple Bungie.Net accounts are not recommended. They are used (many times) in attempts to get around Bungie.Net discipline and/or security.

We tend to blacklist members with multiple accounts.

Bragging about them publicly is unwise, especially if you place any value on the account that you are bragging with.

With the xbox 360 all accounts have to be linked to a .net passport. That esentially means that some people will end up having more one bungie.net account. Will that be wrong?

It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial. And it is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves the flag, whose coffin is draped in the flag that allows the protester to burn the flag.Father Dennis Edward O'Brien, USMC

Besides getting around Blacklists alot of people in the group world of bungie often use alt accounts to cause trouble.

I am proud to say I have only 1 account.

An individual with multiple passports is unrelated to their Bungie.Net account(s).

Millions of people have a MS Passport and do not have Bungie.Net accounts. Someone who has multiple active accounts on this site is bypassing one of the core principles of this site. When interacting on the forums, I am who I appear to be.

Having a secondary, or tertiary (or more) account opens the door to site and forum abuse. A good example is someone using two accounts to "converse" in a thread. They are actually and intentionally bumping, but by using two accounts, it is harder to detect.

This discussion belongs in The Septagon. We'll get much clearer and authoritative replies there. Standby while I relocate it.

I fully understand what you are saying. Microsoft is working hard on intigrating xbox live, msn messenger, your friends lists, etc...... This is being done through the .net passport network. An xbox 360 can have up to 32 accounts per machine now. If a person chooses to have multiple accounts then that person should be able to sign into Bungie with each account to view messages, stats, etc.... Without having to worry about those accounts being blacklisted.

Now back to what you said, I do believe that anyone found to be abusing the system using multiple accounts should be blacklisted.

Also to get the Bungie.net logo behind all of your gamertags you have to create an account on Bungie.net for each gamertag.

There is some good conversation going on in this thread and it has nothing to do with groups. You have already had two threads locked. Please keep to the topic.

Even in such a situation, I would strongly recommend that such a person only use one of their Bungie.Net accounts for forum and group interaction.

That sounds like a good rule in the making to me.

Keeping that in mind, is it alright if they aren't used to post but just to have a linked gamertag???

Well the only reason I have two Bnet accounts is because there were issues closing my old account (pmaster2001), when my 12-month subscription expired. I wanted to pay for the next 12-month subscription on my own (parents had paid for the last one), and wanted to change the dumb name.

Unfortunately when I bought a new 12 month subscription and tried using my old Bnet passport it said there was already an account being used (the dormant old account). After a lot of bickering with XBL they suggested just making a new account/passport. So thus I have a new account which I use solely for XBL play, and not Bnet discussion. This old account is my discussion account ;)

2:10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
2:11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
2:12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

Is it against the rules to announce that your making a new account in public and then use that one and dont use the current one?

Not that I want to do it im just curious....
