Its kind of off subject but i dont really get this...

I thought that when you activate all seven halos that its susspose to destroy the whole universe and all of life...but in one of the levels in HALO 2, i forgot which, there is a cutscene where one halo explodes. So are there only six now that will destroy all life or what? I also thought that it would destroy the universe? Or does that only happen when ALL seven are activated at once?

That 'explosion' was actually a beacon to the others enabling them to be remote activated at any time. Halo would have ended on a bad note if that one actually went off.

You face an opponent who has never known defeat, who laughs in foreign tongues at your efforts to survive. This is Reply suicide.

The Halo in the first game was destroyed. It was destroyed to prevent the Covenant or the Monitor from activating it. It has a pulse that travels a certain distance, and that kills any being of significant cognitive capability (intelligence for those of you in Rio Linda) or of sufficient biomass to sustain the Flood. The device doesn't destroy planets or suns or anything, just organic matter that could be used as a potential vector for the Flood.

All seven Halos activate TOGETHER when ONE of them is activated. They all detonate at the same time and wipe out all life within a certain radius of their epicenter. You know... 25 thousand light years.....

And all the Halos activating TOGETHER only wipe out the life of ONE galaxy... the one they're in.

And when the Index was pulled out of the Core prematurely in Halo 2... Instead of firing... it sent all 6 Halos into a "standby" mode. This mode could only be cancelled or restarted from The Ark. All of the Halos are communicating with each other and awaiting a "go ahead" or a "cancel" from the Ark.

That's why the Ark is so important.

Home is were the Hog is.

Important distinction: The Halos were made to destroy living creatures within the GALAXY. This is much different from the universe, as there are billions of galaxies.

And actually, each ring can only wipe out life within a sphere of influence. All 7 can be activated from the Ark.

Halo won't destroy anything but living creatures. Any Halo will do this but with the ark all the Halos will hit their universes. The Covenant ships travel from universes with warps so each Halo has it's own universe to kill.[/quote

okay if you pay attention while playing the games you will understand this, activate one halo, all halos activate and extinquish all life in galaxy NOT UNIVERSES(i dont know where you got that) the reason the ark is there is not to activate all at once simply because you cant do that on just one halo but its there in case the unexpected shut down of one of the rings the entire system goes to standby and awaits activation from the ark

And the Covenant Orginiated from a galaxy out of reach of all the Halos as they have been activated before. Whys there life on earth? Well think about it...the Halos either dont reach...or whatevers there has sheildign from it.

The Halos were actually last activated a little over a hundred million years ago...

Humanity has been around about 2 million years or so. Maybe a little longer than that...

I doubt that we were "out of reach" or "shielded" from the blast.

And I seriously doubt EVERY SINGLE RACE encorporated INTO the Covenant was either out of range or protected from it. Whatever was before them, was destroyed with the rest of life. The entire GALAXY was purged.

The Galaxy is a big place, and the fact that we've got only a FEW races living in it, pretty accurately displays the amount of life we'd probably find in the galaxy.

The Covenant just had a HUGE headstart when they discovered Forerunnger tech on their planets.. as well as the Engineers they use. They're immitative, not intelligent or more advanced. They only use what was left behind.

Or, the last time they were activated was before life existed on Earth.

Although, I think you're right - The Ark may protect against the Halo death ray. It IS called an ARK, after all.

Oooh. Can't beleive I never realized this. Noahs Ark = protection from great flood. The Halo Ark = protection from the Flood.

Doc: "i'm a pacifist"
Caboose: "your a thing that babies suck on?"
Tucker: "no dude, that's a pedephile"
Church: "tucker, i think he means a pacifier"

after reading i just want to point this out, the ark's purpose (or at least the only one that has so far been revealed) is to provide remote firing of halo systems. whether or not you can survive the attack while inside the ark remains to be seen. i personally think it would be too predictable if MC enters the ark for the first time and run's into forerunners that have survived all this time. another argumernt against that theory is that if forerunners, being as advanced as they are, did indeed survive inside of the ark why did they not exit the ark? and don't say because the forerunners are humans, that's a seperate issue.

i bet that artifact is like a shield installed on earth by the forerunners.

considering how the blast that came out of it at the end of trailer looked so much like the beacon that went off at the end of halo 2, i think that's the arc activating either itself or a halo ring.

Actually warp is incorrect. Warp entails bending space. In the Halo Trilogy, they use slipstream, which is different.
