Please don't hype for games...
They'll just fall short of your expectations and you'll complain for months.

I'm thinking you will think that the precursors are the enemy until some big reveal where it's revealed the precursors were good all along and the Forunners were the real bad guys.

ONI and the Covenant will probably be minor enemies.

maybe the mech is some sort of war sphinx

  • 03.15.2012 9:10 PM PDT

from what was explained in the forerunner saga so far it seems like the forerunners only killed the precursors so that the precursors wouldn't exterminate them, so i think the precursors will be the enemy but that we might covince them we are worthy of the mantle at the end of halo 6 and they will spare us and forgive the forerunners too.

I believe ehe Human Covenant war was caused on the behalf of an AI. The covenant have always been noted to only innovate Forerunner technology. Several times through out the span of First strike to halo 2 and the terminal 3 in CEA has such a frustrating AI been mentioned.
San' Shuymm seem like the religious types that would follow the banter of an mysterious Ai such as this.

The San' Shuymm knew the humans had connections to Forerunners in the past, which is what started the war. It threatened their faith, so they decided it was best to label them heretics and destroy them. One of the AI's tried to explain that their holy conquest was false but was shut out by ignorance pretty much. This was explained in Contact Harvest (I think?).

Not entirely. Humans and Elites are just on good terms, that doesn't mean they're bffs. The relationship is still pretty unstable since there were still hard feelings after the war. They worked together to achieve a common goal, that's all. That doesn't mean we're likely to fight them as a race in Halo 4, but I imagine if the cheif provokes one in any way, it'd have no problem trying to beat him down.

The aftermath of halo 3

Basically the elites right now are busy hunting down the Brutes.

Madara, Tobi....call me whatever you want. I'M NO ONE. I DON'T WANT TO BE ANYONE. ALL I CARE ABOUT IS COMPLETING THE MOON'S EYE PLAN."

as someone already stated, the terminal in CEA with the crashed ship may be hinting towards it. The species in question as Grey101 put it previously should be at least tier 1 level by now.

Since that event took place approximately 40,000 years ago, and the species already had highly-advanced technology back then, and how guilty spark hinted at the possibility of them having been already catalouged on the ring before (which if that is true, again im assuming) shows just how incredible their rate of growth is. Within 60,000 years they already achieved what looked like tier-2 level ships, where as the elites were still living in crags.

Perhaps they had long ago abandoned their biological bodies and took on much more capable mechanical bodies. That may have been what we saw in the teaser trailer. If this conjecture is even close to the actual case, then they would make for awesome enemies.

Although i still believe the precursors will be the main threat, i dont think that will become apparent until the end of H4 or even H5. After all, it is a shooter game, so right off the bat MC has to be shooting at something withing minutes of starting the game. In this case then, the new species will be similar to the covenant in the respect that they will not be the real threat to the universe, but rather pawns in the precursors' plan.

We are all going to get banned aren't we?

Qirahs, we sadly haven't talked in the last few weeks but the timeframe of those ships fits up with the Sigma Crystal.

Opog had a long thread on it that i can send to you if you don't remember it.

The Elites are far from the good guys. If they had the chance they would all opt to wipe out Humanity rather than tolerate its presence in the galaxy, and that isn't going to change. Fortunately though, they cannot build functional technology, so the UNSC has a chance to rebuild and destroy them before they get back on their feet.

I think ONI will be an antagonist, but not the main villain. BS Angel's newest update said she killed an enemy and picked up it's Battle Rifle in H4, implying human enemies.

I don't think she was talking about Campaign. It sounds much more like a multiplayer match.

The first time I picked up a Battle Rifle in Halo 4, I was excited, but not overly so. I knew it was there and I was happy it was there, but I was more curious than anything else. Upon picking it up from a fallen foe, I started searching for someone to test it out on. After finding one such person, I began to unleash my fury upon them, and after the first pull of the trigger, my ears were greeted with three distinct and powerful pops, my controller began rumbling, and I suddenly felt like the most powerful and badass Spartan to ever walk the earth.

Then, I died. The experience of wielding the Battle Rifle was so satisfying, though, that upon spawning, my only goal was to get it back.

Note the "upon spawning, my only goal was to get it back" part. Definately sounds like multiplayer.

The Elites still hold onto their deep seated tradition of honor and respect. I imagine the Elites are above the annihilation of humans as they were allies once. However it seems the Elites are unwilling to offer help unless it is in their interest to do so.

ONI may have a similar role to Cerberus in Mass Effect. They wan't to take control of Forerunner technology to make humanity dominent in the galaxy and kill anyone that gets in there way or anyone that is potential threat.

The Elites are hypocrites though. This has been established in the story for a while now. They have a set of beliefs (That are in no way, shape or form even remotely like Human honor, so don't think that just because they have something called "honor" that this makes them noble and trustworthy by our standards) that they will throw away when it suits them, and it very much suits them right now to kill off the remaining Humans in the galaxy.

They were not really proper allies though. They only stopped fighting to take down truth, and then they essentially got ready to go back to killing each other after Halo 3. The collapse of both societies essentially prevented that. They never stopped being enemies.

Progo, Shrew, Chryso, all are the same.

anyone here wonder if the worms that make up the hunters could, in fact, assemble into different forms? I can't remember the name of the worms on their own, but think about it, you have a whole new enemy right there, and they can take on almost any form.

Yes, but there is only one precursor left.

Also true, that's why I said implied. I just, personally, feel that having human enemies could be a nice change of pace. They'd be like a 1 or 2 level thing, when we see what dickery ONI is pulling this time, but I feel there could be room for it. Even if it only happened once, the enemy Cop in ODST was an interesting surprise.

Honestly, I'm not caring for the excessive dickery of ONI 343 is really pushing.

Why do secret organizations always have to be evil? They can be a threatening/interesting/unique presence without killing hundreds of people at the drop of a hat.

Yes, but there is only one precursor left.

The Primordial said the "last of this kind." The book seemed to imply that not all the Precursors died.
