Frankie confirmed that the Covenant races ARE back, but take a sideline roll to the new threat, and in fact may not be enemies at all.

I have read a few things pointing to the Covenant returning, however I haven't seen anything about them being allies. Mind you it was only a video game news site I read, and haven't seen Frankie's statement yet. Link please?

We’re flawed because we want so much more. We’re ruined because we get these things and wish for what we had.

No, because the flood was wiped out on halo 3 when you destroy the ring

Sorry buddy, that's wrong.

It's funny how people think killing one Gravemind means killing all the Flood.

and it is just a proto-gravemind too.

It was in the latest Sparkast somewhere, when they're talking about weapons.

"It's no secret, by now, that the Covenant are returning," he said.

I got the idea that they could be allies from a Bulletin in which he said the Covenant have changed "aesthetically and politically."

I seriously believe the enemy is mainly going to be ONI aka Office on Naval Intelligence.Because they are known to set up at installations like these and known to sacrifice UNSC personnel.Think about it.It definitely shows in the books, games, and minifilms from waypoint.

Forerunners

The concept Art says otherwise, as you can see a very inhuman creature in one of the images and unless it's a mech...

-blam!- I hope you're joking. That's the besterium's foreward warning not all presented information may be 100% accurate, NOT a species.

You should have seen the Waypoint forums yesterday. 2 whole pages of people convinced that Caveat was a new race and discussing what they think they could be, going as far as saying that the "Caveats" could be the new race that crashed in the terminals, to a Precursor, to the Ancient Evil.

With nobody realizing what it was.

Frankly, it was depressing.

well it could just as easily be something else, doesnt have to be a new species. although when it says silicon and DNA/RNA complex it does however show that it is something that could be from earth. it could be just as easily something from another star system but i am assuming from earth since i know nothing of other species in the halo series with the same chemical make up.

"I may not be perfect, but always been true."

To anyone who actually believes about that caveat:

Caveat: "let the reader beware"

Anyone who is dumb enough to believe it is a new creature must get their copies of the beastiarium (sp?) taken away from them.

Per Audacia Ad Astra

I'm going to guess some sort of Forerunner alien/robot. That would make sense considering the destination of the game is Onyx.

How can you know what period of time Halo 4 takes place? It hasn't been said yet. But, everyone knows that Halo 4 is taking place on Onyx. So, I would have to assume (considering I've read every single Halo book, thank you), that you will be fighting a Forerunner-based enemy.

obviously you didnt take in all that info since the rest of the spartan IIs and IIIs are in the core of what is left of onyx. and onyx took place before the evnts of halo 3 because Kelly is in onyx and stops helping chief along the way.

  • 04.05.2012 7:21 PM PDT

Per Audacia Ad Astra

But there is no way that they have gotten out. Onyx also still exists.

  • gamertag: tpcj4
  • user homepage:

that may be true BUT you are forgetting all that is left is the core which if i am not mistaken is in slip-space. making it UN-accessible to anything floating around. now i am fully aware rocks and other space debris can get into slip-space making chief's ride possible to do so as well but if you look at the back ground in the trailer you will see normal stars.

  • 04.05.2012 7:25 PM PDT

Per Audacia Ad Astra

Are you really suggesting that Onyx is not what The Chief was entering in the trailer?

  • 04.05.2012 7:27 PM PDT
  • gamertag: tpcj4
  • user homepage:

yes that is EXACTLY what i am suggesting. ill admit it is plausible but the remnants of onyx are in slip-space. and chief is not in slip-space.

  • 04.05.2012 7:28 PM PDT

Per Audacia Ad Astra

I would say your suggestion is plausible as well. We'll just have to see though, won't we? Honestly it could go either way. You made a good point. But either one could happen.

Your one stop shop for all of 343's fabulous errors and ridiculous notions in the Halo lore.

Anyone who says Chief is going towards Onyx is wrong.
