Spread the love...

So I just had this idea, and I wanna see what you think of it.

So right now the only thing that our title's affect are the color of our bars. However, I was thinking, what if your title affected more?

What if Members started with the basic set of optional avatars.

Then Heroic Members got those plus some more.

Then Legendary's got even more.

And Mythic's got them all.

I think this would inspire people to stay-ban free even more so than titles because Avatars are much more visual than the bar color. Feel free to say it's a bad idea, but please back it up. Don't just say "no".

Anyway, thanks for reading.

P.S. Ninjas, your new avatars look great!

Also, if it's not clear, I meant we would add new ones, not take away the current ones.

Why did you click the more button? By accident? Reply is at the bottom...
They call me The Precursor

No, we should get them for whoever's been banned the longest without a perma, that's harder and more fun!

Stupidity, when sufficiently advanced, is indistinguishable from magic

Shouldn't posting here be the incentive for posting here? I think anything else (including the title bar system) distracts from discussion rather than adding to it.

This has been said before, but I still think it's not a great idea.

We're here to discuss things, not see who can go the longest without being banned while being super active. Titles don't mean anything, and I want the same ability any other user has.

I understand what your saying, but listen me out.

In all cases, there are two ways to encourage good behavior: one is to reward the good and the other is to punish the bad. On b.net, both are currently being used (titles and bans).

However, I think if we rewarded even more then we would get even better behavior.

No. That's stupid to restrict people from content because of their title.

I wouldn't call it stupid, just... short-sighted.

Yes, I AM just that awesome.

Doesn't this already happen? Except on a much smaller scale (I think 1 or 2 avatars)?

I am going to pass on this idea. Reasons for you already know.

How could you like an idea that limits users for no reason...

Who the hell do you think I am?

Higher ranking titles having a little more avatars? I don't see what the problem is, really.

I don't like this idea, titles mean absolutely nothing (Below Forum Ninja), except a prefix and title that say how long or active you have been. About 60%+ of bungie.net users have a title/prefix.

There is no need for this, IMO. Leave special avatars to Moderators and the Webteam.

It rewards members for good behavior. Is that bad?

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

I don't think so.

No direct reward for good behavior is really feasible on these forums- the system punishes undesired behavior and rewards neutrality (that is, avoiding breaking the rules). Users who don't desire to break the rules will continue to not break the rules with these new incentives, which would change nothing for the better and unnecessarily increase the temptation for them to boost post count rather than just come here for the sake of discussion. However, users that don't care about breaking the rules anyway won't be affected at all by any new incentives.

All this would do is give more shiny, meaningless things to already rule-abiding members. I guess the title system is justified because all it does is label members who contribute more (in theory) and don't break the rules. But this system won't even give recognition, it's just meaningless. The only way this system would in the slightest influence those who intend to break the rules in the first place is by giving them material for troll threads regarding the policy.
