I'm trying to become an '04, but it's not working too well."

Of course, this will make it much more easier to find all the Mythic posts out of all the petty lower ones!
No, it's not necessary.
So what you're saying is that any idea that 'isn't necessary' should be shut down immediately? Sad Face. You may be right about immediately shutting down the idea, but his logic in his first argument holds some truth to it.
Currently there is no question that posts by a mythic member, forum ninjas, or an employee, stick out way more than other posts, and distract the attention away from post that could potentially hold great value.
Adding avatars that can only be used by higher titles would further distract from post by other users that do not have these avatars. Posts and opinions could be missed and the poster of these posts might be excluded from the discussion.
With a system like this it creates almost a barrier, where effectively, "the rich stay rich, and the poor stay poor." Bungie.net should be one community as a whole working together, not a bunch of manufacturer classes working against each other.
Okay, so let's expand on the avatar idea.
Why not have avatars for the following
1. Prefix
2. Title
3. Years (1-3-5-7-9+)
4. Random Criteria (amount of Bungie games played, Linked GT specific, X groups joined, etc)
This way, we're adding an abundance of avatars that are basically open to everyone.
I honestly don't see avatars being anything special, in terms of your "post attention" theory. With H2, H3, ODST and Reach having custom avatars, almost everyone was able to have some sort of custom avatar to an extent. Having a few emblems that are 'unlockable' wouldn't be anywhere near as attention grabbing as gold text. They'd just be thrown into the mix of the thousands of avatars that are currently floating around. Not to mention, these avatars would be held by many. What you're getting at is understandable, but only in the cases of Moderators and Employees. Their avatars are one of a kind on this website. They will absolutely grab attention because nobody else can have them.
