Subject: Another B.Net Idea: Unlocking Avatars Based On Title.

1) People will get angry.
2) Equal status? Out the freaking window.
3) If we're adding more avatars, everyone should benefit and enjoy them.
4) Goes against common sense in general.

Not a terrible idea, op. But not one I'd care for I'm afraid.

The only thing I can think of that I don't quite know how it would work would be the upment of quality and worth.

Would we go through a system of quality-assurance and polls to figure out which avatars would be suited for which trust-tier and prefixes? How do we determine that a Heroic avatar is not as awesome as a Mythic avatar?

Obviously that's not a huge deal, and it should be easy to figure out, but what makes the criteria for "Mythic avatar"?

I think idea has merit and I like to unlock goodies for doing a good job! Just think about it like it is achievements for playing a game! Some will be easy to get and some will be harder. Even Halo Charts had things you could unlock with time in and certain medals you could get.

Theres not many avatars as there are, it take years to reach Mythic, and a member can behave just as well as a mythic. I'm sorry but I don't like this idea.

Sure titles are cool and fun to have, but at the end of the day I visit bungie.net for the community lulz and chapters ect.

Video games are designed for people as an outlet for competition. A forum site is not designed for competition. As I said previously, on a community forum, we should not be competing and working against each other to grow as individuals, we should be working together to grow as a whole.

I don't understand how unlocking a picture to go next to your name is considered 'going against someone'.

I understand your point and it makes sense. I don't think it should be taken as competitive, rather it is something to strive for. We already have the titles and this is just the same thing with a different reward.

When people are competing for something that other people won't have, many people act very immorally.

While I also believe that it should not be seen as a competition, I know for a fact that some people would see it as one, no matter what they are told.

I used to be the kind of person who would go to great lengths for frivolous rewards just to say that I accomplished it. I no longer am like that, but I know that there are many people that currently think that way.

You imply a level of control over Halo: Reach matchmaking that we no longer have. Or, in your vernacular, it isn't our shiznit anymore.

I really like this idea, though I don't think it should necessarily be linked with titles.

If it were though, a user who goes down to a lower title should keep the avatars.

And thought people have brought up the "Mythic should get custom avatars" debate before, I think it's a valid idea: only, what, 10% - 20% or less of the entire member base are mythics. If they had to submit a custom avatar, the amount of submissions would be low enough that the ninjas/Bungie could probably manageably handle them.

Or allow people who have a very very high trust rating submit custom avatars.
I think this idea would work best. After the new site update the webteam can make custom criteria for the new avatars that aren't related to the current title system.

No that seems stupid.
We should all have the same number of avatars. It's fair that way.
I don't hear anyone complaining about it being unfair that they don't have every single gamer picture or avatar item on Xbox LIVE.

Why do you think that is?
Because that's your choice to buy those items, for cusomisation.

Whilst I still don't think this reward system is needed,(Just imagine the sheer volume of compliants) I wouldn't be distressed if it was added.

I think he is referring to the Avatar in which you are rewarded for completing certain achievements.

While I do see the analogy that he is trying to make, I do not agree with it. As I said earlier video games are intentionally created to be a means of competition among people, where as a forum is no place, in my opinion, for competition that creates class ranks. It is a place where discussion is to take place and opinions be shared.

If you are so inclined to be superficial, and need some sort of indication of who's posts are "better", you already have the titles. There is no need to add avatars to it as if it would provide any further indication to the false belief that they truly are better.
