What would you like to see in halo 4 forge. Comments, ideas, anything, GO!
Personally, i would like to see a number of things that really aren't too crazy.
here's a list.
1.An entire window category
- windows sucked in reach. they were too big, not very transparent, or not even windows at all.
2. A time of day setting
-it would be nice not to have to put 8 different effects on to make it night time. i was thinking of something exactly like the far cry 2 setting
3. different skins for objects
- i loved the colour settings on objects and reach but different skins would GREATLY enhance the aesthetic possibilities for mapmakers. ex. a normal wall, then a human wall, a sandbox wall, a "natural" wall
4. SOME SORT OF SWITCH SYSTEM
-this for me would be amazing. making doors/traps/puzzlepieces/ were costly bulky and worked 70% of the time. Not to mention they looked goofy. if 343 worked some sort of switch system involving links and premade switch items like doors, elevators, and releases of different shapes and sizes it would add an entirely new and feasible element to map makers for all game varients (especially invasion,CTF/assault and infection).
5. Some way to control the coordinate grid of objects
-this one is a little far off but i hate how in reach, it's impossible to build a diagnol coordinated ramp.
6. inclusion of vehicles from the campaign
-it was dissapointed in halo 3 and halo reach when i found that you couldn't place: troop hogs, AA Wraiths, fuelrod shade turrets, and forklifts. it cant be hard at all to incorporate those int forge.
7. A symetry or duplicate function.
making symetrical maps suck, especially when the bases are off set. A symmetry tool of some sort would helo exponentially. same with a duplicate tool. im thinking something as simple as a box that you set the size to(similar to the sizing function of a capture plate) that you simply lay over what you want to duplicate and press a twice.
8. PLACEABLE WHARTHOG-LIKE TURRETS
-i have wanted these since halo 3. the turrets currently available are balanced to have limited protection and range. they are virtually useless against vehicles. warthog turrets would be the turrets ripped directly off the backs of warthogs and place-able. i would also like to see the shade turret's vehicle damage increase. its like a fat bb gun. Im not saying get rid of the current turrets as they are a great variable to add into infantry based maps but, the new addition would be really nice.
9. A minor increase in Vehicle customization
-instead of having 3 kinds of warthogs why not just have one name in the menu(warthog) and then from there you choose what the back should be(gauss, rocket, TROOP, or machine gun) and its PRIMARY and SECONDAY colors. i think all the vehicles should have visible color options, not just the mon...geese. I also feel have 2 colors would be a sweet addition and they could even match your spartan's armor colors when in the race gametype.
10. Shield door Editing.
I feel the shield doors in halo reach were too restricted by size, type, and cost. in halo 4, it would be great if you could specify the size, HEALTH, and color of your shield door. (health could add a variety of new ideas to shieldoors, like using them as temporary walls. it would also be really convenient if you could choose what can and cannot go through on either side i.e. gunfire, persons, vehicles, grenades. this could keep players from driving vehicles into bases and it could create great forms of cover. the possibilities are endless.
11. A flip tool
-this would be nice to flip asymmetrical objects like rocks and decorative pieces for the sake of map symmetry or preference.
12. The ability to type your own signs and then place them into forge.
-this would allow map makers to label objectives and places of interest in competitive gametypes and it would allow casual map makers to place hints or messages in puzzle or infection gametypes.
well thats all i got now. ill add more if i think of any and ill quote in any ideas you have that people seem to like.
