Forerunners can't be human. Whenever Bungie mentions the Forerunners, don't they always say 'extinct alien race'? We're not extinct and we're not alien.

Anyway, back to the original thread, I reckon that the two biblical definitions of "ark" (Noah's ark and ark of the covenant) have been merged. That site talked about the ark of the covenant producing "unnaproachable light", and it was made from acacia wood - acacia trees can be seen in the background on the trailer.
Also flood and ark are just a little too coincidental if you ask me. So i think bungie will have mixed the story up a bit.

"Your destruction is the will of the gods, and we are their instruments."

I´ve been thinking about the same thing. Only i think that the Ark is both the Ark Of The Covenant and Noahs Ark. It save the one who activates it, but brings death every place else else.

Go read up on the good book. It's always a good bet with Bungie.

why do people believe this? just because bungie mention an ark(like which saved everyone from the flood) doesn't mean it will protect those inside it! it might do, but don't assume!

Doc: "i'm a pacifist"
Caboose: "your a thing that babies suck on?"
Tucker: "no dude, that's a pedephile"
Church: "tucker, i think he means a pacifier"

sorry, i didn't read through the entire thing but i just have to ask this, why are so many people getting biblical about this? i'm not offended or anything but it just seems lately that everyone's excuse for everything is that they stole/based it on the bible.

couldn't bungie just have came up with an idea on their own? people are capable of that you know.

i don't think halo 3 will have a religious or scientific ending because it will cause too much controversy and bungie is too smart do do that

"all mankinds sins are put into this box and one day god will judge them."

I dont think i've seen one person in this whole forum that remebers this quote from Gravemind, he says duing one of the cut-sceens, "I am the monument to all your sins". Mabey this related to the ark as gravemind being something that serves the same purpose as the ark, or something like that, i dont even know anymore. I just thought i'd bring that up causes its important clues to who gravemind is.

[Noah's] Ark
* Is a structure on Earth, maybe twice as wide as the control room.
* Earth as a whole could be the Ark as well, this serves up the possibility for a new theory I came up with:
Whoa...wait a second guys. I never though that only a structure on Earth was the Ark based off of Noah's Ark...and we all know that the control room (which is also an Ark: Ark of the Covenant).

Someone mentioned the dinosaurs...now, I don't think Earth was a full-fledged colony per say, but just a planet the Forerunners controlled (perhaps they vacationed here, or hunted dinos, lol).

So..possibly, since all the larger dinos would be sentient and totally Flood-controllable, maybe the Ark needs to be a structure on Earth, with a shield defending it from the force which scrambles central nervous systems, gaining access through smart brains.

So...the Dinos are all killed by the Rings, the ice age starts, and some of the Forerunners' favorite animals survive along with a group of Forerunners. Not much, but a multiple of two (which is how we think of Adam + Eve, then Noah's Ark with the animals, and the Flood which killed everythigng else).

The iceage could've just been a fluke, or possibly a side effect from the atmosphere changing rapidly, and could've happened everywhere..also, it could've covered up much Forerunner tech, and after the ice age, the Prophets grabbed it and ran.

Ark of the Covenant
* Control room of the main Ark; unleashes all the rings to fire, so this will be the destruction it contains.
* This is the structure we see, it's not a weapon, only a trigger. So the beam of light would just be communications, but it still may be so powerful as to get all the way out to the Halos, it may have damaged the Covenant ships on top of it (or they just got scared of the big glowy thing)

This has been discussed very many times

The doors of God's Temple in Heaven flew open, and the Ark of his Covenant was clearly seen surrounded by flashes of lightning, loud shouts, peals of thunder, an earthquake, and a fierce hailstorm. ---Revalation 11:19---

The only thing that we did not see was a massive hail storm. This is when one of the angels blew their trumpet, the trumpet fanfare of course, oh and this is from revelation, when the world ends, oh wait, this is the way the world ends.

Personally, I believe Bungie won't address issues relating to Christianity or Judaism or any other "real-world" religious concepts. While Religious terms and themes do abound in Halo, they primarily deal with the Covenant's religious beliefs, etc.

I don't think it would be good idea to change this policy, despite being Christian myself. Halo is a good game with an awesome plot that deals with science-fiction elements.

The Forerunners are not mutually exclusive with any "real-world" religious concepts; I doubt any changes to this would make Halo 3 any better. What makes Halo so interesting of a concept was (IMHO) the seamless way Bungie was able to construct a plot with religious mysticism and science-fiction without stepping on any toes - anyone can focus on the storyline and enjoy it, no matter what faith they hold dear.

Whoever is writing the story deserves a cookie :)

Crippled Ninja, remember that in the Halo universe, our bible is based off of the Forerunners' findings, and how they got rid of the Flood, how they came to Earth, etc.

The higher being would be the ships, and also the previous Forerunners.

Adam and Eve = the People who survived in the Ark

Ark of the Covenant = control room

Noah's Ark = Earth

Things that survived with Noah = animals the Forerunners liked having around, for some reason and the ykept them alive.

Don't forget that if the halos were activated 100,000 years ago humans would have been wiped out too as they first emerged 120,000 years ago, Also other animals would have been wiped out too.

Perhaps the ark shown in the trailer is like a powerfull sheild that covers the earth protecting it from the halos "divine wind"

1. Humans come from apes - no doubt about that. humans evolved else where in the galaxy, and came to Earth.

2.
* Apes began to evolve
* By the time -blam!- Sapien Sapiens emerged with the Neanderthals (sp?) the Halos fired
* We just thought the -blam!- Spaiens Sapiens survived to become us but the Forerunners actually were us (we are basically the same)
* It would also explain why the Neanderthals went extinct for no apparent reason.
* The -blam!- Sapiens Sapiens are believed to be us, but the Forerunners being present covered up the fact that they became extinct
* This would explain why we subconsciensly know how to use Forerunner and Covenant technology

Maybe my idea on the dinos dissapearing was dumb - the Halos fired after the Dinos were gone. Possibly the Foreruners found where they'd put their Ark, and destroyed the wildlife so we wouldn't get killed when we exit the Ark..

Duh! the Halo's where made 100,000 years ago by the 'Forerunners' and Sapien Sapiens ( or Netherlandles ) came about 40,000 years ago, You made a mistake.
