Do none of you have a sense of humour?
We do, this just isn't funny.

Yea, i think your right actually. I always thought it was the ark of the covenant for obvious reasons, but never actually knew wha the ark of the covenant done!

Very nice! And the sins? Would that be Flood? or an infected Forerunner, or another gravemind, or something else?

1. Humans come from apes - no doubt about that. humans evolved else where in the galaxy, and came to Earth.

2.

Apes began to evolve

By the time -blam!- Sapien Sapiens emerged with the Neanderthals (sp?) the Halos fired

We just thought the -blam!- Spaiens Sapiens survived to become us but the Forerunners actually were us (we are basically the same)

It would also explain why the Neanderthals went extinct for no apparent reason.

The -blam!- Sapiens Sapiens are believed to be us, but the Forerunners being present covered up the fact that they became extinct

This would explain why we subconsciensly know how to use Forerunner and Covenant technology

----------------------------------------------------

Duh! the Halo's where made 100,000 years ago by the 'Forerunners' and Sapien Sapiens ( or Netherlandles ) came about 40,000 years ago, You made a mistake.

I don't remember it ever being stated how long ago they were actually fired, just that it was thousands of years ago.

No, it would be the Halos. The Ark of the Covenant communicates with the Halos, then tells them to fire.

The ark obviously refers to the earth, thats why the covenant visited it in Halo 2 and were surprised to find humans there. The ark I think means that earth was once a refuge for life in the galaxy where the makers of the ring worlds preserved life from the the flood the last time the halo rings were activated. From this 'seeding' all life arose on the earth. Anyone familiar with geology will have heard of the Cambrian Explosion where the number of life forms on planet earth exploded into millions of different wierd and wonderful designs............ and noone is really sure how it happened. I suspect that Bungie will somehow tie this into the storyline and it turns out that the covenant and mankind evolved from the same starting point but became very different organisms physically but shared a similair degree of intelligence.
I would much rather the story followed a scientific / Darwinian thread than a Neo Christian, pseudo religious ridiculous one.

You are exactly right the ark has two purposes one two remotly activate all the rings two: to replinish the life of the universe.I think in halo 3 if master chief goes in the ark it will have lab's with the speices of the universe in them. The Covenant had no idea the humans were on earth because the object the covenant wetre looking for was there. That is why the were suprised to see the humans there, and so eager to find earth.

So Earth was choosen as the Ark where people are uneffected by the Ring and it was the Forerunners plan that when we had reached the right technological hight we would find the <whatever that thing in the trailer is> and reclaim the galaxy (the entire universe is a little bit more big than the 7 rings blast radius, TKO JaCkA55).

This is what im getting- The forerunners created Eden and left to people there basically erasing their memory. After a certain amount of time they kicked them out and activated Halo. This means that there is some protection on Earth. Where is it? It would have to be huge to protect us. Also are you saying the Convenant and Christians follow the same exact religion?
Eden seems like the ancient forerunner technology. Maybe the Forerunner played God. 7 rings 7 days...

well, knowing bungie, they like to put subliminal messages in their games. like master chief or John 117, is apparently a passage in teh bible John 1:17. I haven't read it, but it must be important. and the if the ark actually is like a pandora's box, than why hasn't it been activated earliar? i can think of 3 ways that it activated at this time:
A: the arrival of Truth and chief in the forrerunner ship
B: the unexpected shutdown of delta halo causing all other rings to go to standby status.
C: someone physicially turned it on.

I'm thinking that it is b and maybe c because it makes sense that when the other rings go into standby it causes an automated boot-up sequence in the artifact, whether its the ark or not. and c beause it doesn't make sese that just because the rings went into standby it makes tha rk activate. in fact Guilty spark says is himself that "the rings are now ready for remote activation" he doesn't say that they are being activated, or anything about the ark other than that's where the rings are controlled from.
