Just give more trusted members a more powerful report button. This could be done automatically and would supplement the mods, not just create bureaucracy.

This could be based on your trust rating, or accuracy of previous reports.

Why not just make them a Forum Ninja?

Why not just make them a Forum Ninja?
Most forums implement Janitors as kind of like a training process for being a moderator, and some forums just keep them to help moderate low traffic forums boards.

Janitors almost never have the ability to ban people, just the ability to flag/request bans and hide the post, then hand it over to a moderator to care of. That way, if the Janitor was a bad selection, they don't cause havoc on the forums.

I'm a janitor on a forum I go to often, and a moderator on a forum that uses janitors, and I think it makes the process a whole lot easier. Low traffic boards get more moderation, and in general makes things more efficient.

I don't know, The Flood is trying really hard to change that.

4chan is a little different than Bungie.net. I'm fine with what we have.
4chan is an imagine board. This is completely different.

Also, enough with this "The Flood is like /b/" bullcrap. The flood will never come close to being like /b/.

None of that. Muzza pointed out that The Flood likes to think that they're similar to /b/, when yeah, anyone with a brain could tell you that The Flood is some poor wannabe off-topic forum that's completely littered with cancer, but that's hardly relevant. Also, no, actually, the fact that it's an image board doesn't really change anything at all. You can post images in addition to regular posts. That doesn't make anything "completely different". Shush.

Does everyone here realize that the only mods b.net has are the ones that are going to stay,I don't think b.net moderators are going to agree on giving everyone a little of their power. That would cause chaos on this website, because, more than likely,no one could really handle it.

  • 03.17.2012 8:16 AM PDT

I don't think this is necessary until there comes a time when we need more mods, and then Achronos will just recruit more mods.

I do like the idea of more trusted users having a higher weighting with regards to reporting though.

I know, but /b/ has a completely different interface and the people there act a LOT different. Only the least quality users on the flood act that way.

I don't think this discussion needs to go any further, it's not really on topic. Just that it was kind of bugging me...

I think it would be kinda neat to have those around.

>Force hide posts
>More power when it comes to reporting posts

I'm pretty sure that not even the administrators have the privilege to do those (outside of creating the feature themselves, of course). Either way, I don't think "Bnet janitors" would be very necessary; and we already have a higher version of them, they're called forum ninjas.

Please stop complaining about the 'death of a loved one' it's my job. They probably deserved it anyways. Here's a warning, if you keep making pentagrams out of the neighbors livestock I will personally come to your house and kill everyone you love. Now leave me alone, I got to get back to work.

If your going to be the great eye, shouldn't you be open to reading more?
Does this eye look healthy to you?

Looking evil has its downsides. I lack eyelids and cannot blink, as a result my vision is blurred and my eye is really sore and itchy.

It's obvious than, your only option is suicide. It does the trick for itchy eyes.

I just saw a green monkey nut shot a small tan lizard(?) in a gunny sack.

I'd rather see the current and any future mods not have the salmon text. Something akin to shadow mods, but not entirely anonymous. Once they get that colored text, it separates them from the rest of us, whether intentional or not, and that's never good for anyone.

Just give more trusted members a more powerful report button. This could be done automatically and would supplement the mods, not just create bureaucracy.

This could be based on your trust rating, or accuracy of previous reports.

Trust rating isn't an accurate measure of how much Bungie actually trusts a member, as well as automated and unsupervised. Forum ninjas and Bungie employees should be pretty trust-able; but under the trust system, plunty of each have base titles as low as member or heroic member.

If Bungie trusts someone, I don't see a reason they would give that user less permissions than a Forum Ninja. I think the two moderator roles work well.
I actually agree with (at least the first half of this). I've never understood why you would trust someone with a small number of powers but not all of them. If you trust someone to have power over the forum, why limit what they can do?

Positive vibes.

I agree. This doesn't seem necessary; but that's up for them to decide.

I wasn't saying it was a perfect system, but it would be a way to weight reports more heavily from people who generally behave.

The word "Janitor" really remind me about the SI back in the Pre- Halo 3: ODST days.

Doesn't anyone remember that? Green text, green userinterface, green little guy?
