I think commands would be pretty cool, im pretty tired of having to kill my marines cause i know they will spoil an area that i am trying to do stealthily, or just sit there as a wraith shoots them to Hell.

I think this would make the Campaign much more fun.

i also would like to know the reasons behind not wanting the D-Pad to be used, its just waiting there to be used in some manner, IMO

I voted for “Basic Commands for Stupid Marines.”

However in Multiplayer, (If bungie makes a movie mode) it should used for head/mouth movements. Example; if you have elite, pressing up with open the mouth/mandibles, pressing down will close it. The same for other possible skins: Brute, Marine, Grunt, Jackal, etc.

wow, thats a pretty interesting / cool idea about having that option, i mean if it isnt going to be for anything else, at least let to fans have better abilities to make movies with Halo 3....very cool, considering up and down still do the head nod / raise and lower weapons in Halo 2

Because you are what you eat, and you know what it is.

Airstrikes wouldnt be too bad. Also, opening doors or locking them would be good. Also, marines have no logic, artificial or not.

i really want to hear what people are thinking about "nothing new" i mean if there were commands they dont have to use them, i would like someone to type a response to this...

  • 05.26.2006 10:26 AM PDT

"Not really. They eat their wounded."
"Just like chiropractors!" Caboose - funny -blam!-

"If god is love, then you can call me cupid" Sarge.

Whispering marine - "you'll give away our position!"
sarge - "I'll do as i damn well please!" (kills grunt with sniper rifle)
elites rule, MCs r cool

I think that's taking red vs blue to a whole different level. not a good one i might add. In multiplayer it could be used to switch a sign in your allies hud, move up, retreat, charge, cover fire etc(open to change). or it could be used for secondary weapons or something. its a shame that the controller has such few buttons.

i like the controllers the way they are, i mean we can do all that stuff in Halo 2 and they STILL havent used the D-Pad

hmm i dont think u should be able to command ur marines...just cuz i think it would take away from ur marines being there own person...i just think bungie should make them alil smarter.

  • 05.26.2006 10:31 AM PDT

I think it should be used to activate special powers. Like if you input the right combination you would be able to super jump or see through walls.

im not suggesting that the marines wont go off and do their own thing, in fact these could be the 4 commands

1) Cover Me
2) Procede with Mission
3) Hold
4) Procede with Caution

of course these are subject to opinion but i believe these would be great

no way! he doesnt have super powers like that...that wouldnt fit the halo games at all.

  • 05.26.2006 10:34 AM PDT

Well, it should definitely be used for peeking, peeking is good.

yeah...maybe cover me and hold wouldnt be bad...u just dont want ones that wouldnt be realistic like find cover and stuff cuz in real life ur marines should be able to know what they should do without u giving them any commands...idk i just dont think bungie will do it though...

yea but like i said they would always have that freedom to move about but when you gave them a command they would drop everything and do what you said and as soon as you said "Proceed with Mission" they would follow you, and while following orders they wouldnt hold in the middle of a field under fire they would find cover and hold (holding their fire as well) this is all very basic and im dure bungie could come up with a better idea

seeing how Bungie really hasn't changed much in terms of controls on HCE or H2 it makes me think that there probably won't be much change.
however, I do believe they have something up there sleeve for H3. And I think the controls are just the tip of the ice berg.
getting back on topic I think the D-pad could have some great usage:

up on d-pad = night vision
down on d-pad = permanent crouch until hit again
left on d-pad = grab flag or bomb, we all know how annyoing it is when you go to pick up falg and get a random weapon.
right on d-pad = I really would like this to be the option to trade a weapon with comrade but a simpler use could be flashlight.

We're talking about Bungie, they are like and literally old men, they want things done their own way.

but we already have crouch and trade weapons (down on thumbstick and Pressing A respectively) why would bungie change the buttons just to make them do the same thing, that doesnt make sense....and i can also deal with randonly picking up a weapon....i wouldnt want to waste the D-Pad on that either

I think it would be nice to be able to dodge like the Elites did in Halo 1, be able to roll out of the way from a vehical or sniper shot. We all know how annyoning it is when your caught in the open on Blood gultch agaisnt a sniper.

1. how do you trade weapons during a slayer, thats new for me.
2. over lap button use, buttons that have numerous commands, something they will change.
3. you like holding crouch, I don't
4. you can deal with randomly picking up weapon, really I bet you anything that will change also the reload and weapon pickup being same button, or flag-pick up could be used as another example........ this is something they ODVIOUSLY need to fix.
5. why would you want to control marines, go play battfield or something if you want some pointless configuration.
