I have revamped my idea for a tactical command interface. You should be able to give Marines / allies a list of simple commands: hit the dirt (grenade), hold fire (stealth), fire at will, hold position, follow me, go here.

The way it works: Marines / allies run off their own AI unless you choose to give them commands, so this feature is completely optional. Quit your -blam!-in'.

TO SELECT A MARINE:
* aim at him/her and hit the BACK button.

TO SELECT EVERY NEARBY MARINE:
* hit the BACK button without aiming near one.

ONCE MARINE(S) IS SELECTED:
* push R to order FIRE AT WILL
* push L to order HIT THE DIRT (warn GRENADE)
* push A to order FOLLOW ME
* push X to order HOLD FIRE
* push Y to order GO TO MY RETICLE (aim reticle at a weapon on the ground to have them pick it up)
* push B to cancel

This is unobtrusive and purely optional to use. Allies only work on their own AI unless you choose to issue orders. No, this will not take a long time and could be done during combat with only a split second delay. And no, it will still be a FPS, not purely tactical.

i said no because it would turn it into a game like Ghost Recon or Navy Seals, it needs to stay just a good old fasion FPS.

I second that.

Keep Halo accessible and straight foward. The marines are a fun part of the game but squad based combat is not the point. It is you versus them.

exactly i love halo because its halo, i would rather blow the -blam!- out of something myself than tell my marines to go do it...i mean you Master Chief...MC completing a task himself is much more efficiant and safer than having marines go do it

"You have been measured, you have been weighed: And you have been found lacking."

Hell No.

Just update the AI so they do all of that AUTOMATICLY

I said yes, because that is too complicated. What I think would be better if if you just have 4 commands

Useing D pad

Up= Advance
Down= Find cover
Left=hold fire
Right=open fire

If not something this simple, it shouldn't be in cause it would take away what halo is, its not the kiind of game that you stand still and order people around like full spectum warrior...you guys know what im getting at !

1) Cover Me
2) Procede with Mission
3) Hold
4) Procede with Caution

during holding they would find cover and then hold, covering would be firing and moving to protect, procede with mission would negate any orders you had given to the marines, this would also help the marines not get glitched, they would simply continue as they normally do, procede with caution would prevent marines from running straight into a wraith tank
