I was thinking... Halo2 has cheaters all over the place. I know that Bungie is clamping down with the banhammer and thats great but the bitter horrible truth is that there is still a lot of cheating. Perhaps for Halo3 there could be a dedicated group of xbox live marshals whose sole job is to play Halo3 and catch people cheating and then ban /punishthem. If they play the game as a normal player they will better understand the circumstances of a game with cheats and be able to punish accordingly. You'd only need a few marshals and the anonymity of not knowing if you are playing with or without a marshal in your game would hopefully put off almost all cheaters from cheating.

I love Halo2, and the cheaters really wreck the game for most of us. I dread the thought that Halo3 will have cheaters in it again and am hopeful that there will be a kickass anti-cheat system.

What do you reckon? Then again they may already have people playing the games hunting for cheaters.. I dont know really. Just thought I'd share.

That is a really good idea, I like it.

If someone really wants to cheat they will probibly want to do it no matter what, but if the marshels had a way to impliment punishments ingame and stop the person then that would be neato.

Good idea Sorta like runescape

And they should be able to make them self what ever rank they wanted becouse that why the could just play as a level 50 and ban like 7 cheaters ever team slayer game

Heheh thanks. The good thing about this marshal system would be that the team of marshals wouldnt have to be big in number. You might only run into a marshal (and not know it by the way) every 50 or even 100 games or even more than that. Just the presence of marshals, just knowing that they exist would deter a lot of cheaters. The main advantage of having a marshal hunt for cheaters would be that the marshal is a real person and can therefore see what a stat analysing system cant see or might miss.

A combination of the current banhammer systems (feedback etc) and a marshal system would, in my opinion, be as good as an anti-cheat system could be.

I like this idea. Lets say that bunige decides to go forth with this... how would they go about selecting candidates?

I think policing non employee marshalls would be a nightmare. Besides, isn't that what the feedback system already does?

It would probibly end up being Bungie Staff or Microsoft Employees or a combination of both.

Yeah it would surely be a Microsoft owned division. Or something like that. I imagine though... that if such a system ever existed that it really would be quite a boring job. Eventually.

I would do something like that for free. Well not entirely free... just give me free LIVE access. Also, if you're a mod/marshall and you request someone to be banned, it would have to be checked out by someone from bungie first. More like a priority ban instead of having to sift through tons of information, although I'm sure the system they have setup does a great job. I saw someone cheat in matchmaking when my bro was playing.... I checked back the next day the person that was modding had been banned.

I agree with this completely although it would be hard for bungie to manege the managers... but i have created a group here at bungie who's purpose it to play togeather not only to improve skill and rank but also to report any cheaters to the 1 known e-mail that gets them banned almost that same day.anyone wishing to join check out the link in my signature. all help is apreciated. although i am currently the only one in the group i hope our numbers build and we can be an elite cheater finder.
