Its a major problem in the flood right now, with a group I am not going to draw attention to (I'm pretty sure they will do it themselves).

When something like that happens, and it does happen quite often, do the groups get investigated? What would be a way to fix the annoying group advertising?

Personally, I believe anyone advertising should be banned from the group they were adverting (irreversible by the admins) and banned from the public forums.

I Think, mods usually stay out of any private group matters. They will be punnished in the public forums, but left alone in the private.

“Strange,” mused the Director, as they turned away, “strange to think that even in Our Ford’s day most games were played without more apparatus than a ball or two and a few sticks and perhaps a bit of netting. imagine the folly of allowing people to play elaborate games which do nothing whatever to increase consumption.”

But lets face it, if a private group were participating in an organised spam attack on the public forums, I believe that that would warrant action.

And yes, a private group is currently participating in an organised spam attack. Incidentally, that same private group has a news article on its front page talking about a desire to increase recruitment.

And one of the participants has already posted in this thread. And then snipped their post.

Then banned...

I just don't feel like main forum bands are enough when it comes to spamming private group adverts.

All they are going to do it crawl back to their group. I belive that they should be banned from all their private groups.

Infact I would be in favor of a ban that doesn't allow any actions with other members, such as messages, and posts (public and private).

I can promise you this was not organized by members of the group. I think someone took the opportunity from the recent news article and ride a long to their advantage and tried to frame the group, as these members who did the attack just joined like yesterday. :(

Anyone but Foman. He smells like cheese.

It's not a "major problem." Please recalibrate your viewpoints. A few people conducting organized spam advertising is a minor problem, and it has been taken care of. You could have just PMd a moderator.

Remember,
It is easy to be male
it is another thing to be a man.

Basically what Foman said.
And the actions of a few does not mean the group as a whole is behind it. I could go about spamming links to HFCS, it doesn't mean that Stosh approves of it.

Cammalamm is the best.

It is not always the group behind the spam. Just a few members.
