Got to finally try out the Jetpack. It was awesome!!

I usually use it to clean up infantry and take out people with power weapons.

The Mongoose felt much more sturdier and faster. I'm definitely excited!!
The mongoose feels much more controllable then the Halo 3 mongoose.

Also, the preowned copy came with a working Grunt Funeral skull code which means I can do SLASO.

SLASO in CEA is actually pretty easy. Just chuck grenades and you'll get pretty far. Flood can be difficult though.

I plan on using it to dodge enemy shots. Hovering is kick-ass!!

Ah but I never said how I would play SLASO. I intend to do it with minimal grenade spam because that's just disappointing. Splattering and assassinating Elites is the way to take them out.

I'm still not sure if the Grunt Funeral explosion is EMP (it probably is) but if it is, I'll also be using that to take out Elite shields. A little gun fire to position the Grunt then a sweet headshot... is all that I need.

On a side note, I'm disappointed with how CEA's campaign aspect doesn't feel like a finished product yet the mp half does.

There's:

-the menu scrolling has loose sensitivity (fixed by using the d pad)
-no clarity (there's no mention of how to skip the cutscene which is pressing Y and the skull achievements should say on Normal or higher because I got a skull on Easy and I didn't get the achievement)
-splitscreen doesn't look right
-and of course the dozen other glitches already noted by people (I've only encountered geometry that isn't a perfect fit and extra graphics, falling to my death when walking around Boom skull's platform and almost getting pwned because I tried to take cover and was blocked by an invisible wall)

The most disappointing aspect has to be the inability to tell where my shots land. I find myself playing on classic mode because of this grievance.

This is a Reach account that I created the day they announced his name in a bnet weekly update. Any stats regarding ODST or Halo 3 are irrelevant. Also, Halo CE master race. Halo 1 > other halo games > other games.

Account Status: Silver :(

Halo 4 weapons spawns :/

Sounds a lot like Invasion Skirmish. They drop at a specific time and people all chuck grenades at the location.

You know, I've always said competitive play was an absolute joke if you played it in matchmaking. This has lead me to realize none of this bothers me in the least. In fact, it ought to lead to more planned competitive custom matches.

Then again, surely MLG will have a playlist and if they do, they'll most likely not have any of this stuff.

You're looking at it in black and white. MM depends on balance, not competitiveness. I play casually but like being in a balanced environment, not a competitive environment.

Depends on what people mean by competitive. I liked Halo 1 and 3's vanilla gametypes and found them competitive just as many here found Halo 2's vanilla competitive enough. We don't need MLG to tell us what is and isn't competitive. I like the AR and pistol and MLG doesn't include those things. Sure sniper and BR take skill, but does rockets? Ehhhh. MLG maps were not always the best anyways. I think what I miss is the race to 50. I preferred Halo 2's slower ranking system and was hoping that would return, but 343i is implementing a Cod like ranking system.

Don't worry. None of the top developers have backbone to include anything that includes a skill gap anymore.

What I don't understand is this subplot with the multiplayer. It's completely unnecessary and hardly compelling. I really wonder how long it took their creative minds to come up with a virtual reality scenerio. Of course, the problem is in combat they aren't usually killing each other, since they were kind of in a war to save humanity. You know fighting virtual covenant would make more sense if it was for training. Apparently, they don't have technology to test virtual elites even though there must have been reasonable documentation considering that they fought alongside the Spartans and marines for so long.

I honestly don't know what they were thinking about this. No one cares why the multiplayer exists. We don't play multiplayer for its plot. Maybe they had to do this to distract from the gameplay since that's what multiplayer is suppose to be about. Unless it has some direct connection to the main plotline in Halo 5 or something it's pointless. Even then, I think it's a bit out there and completely unnecessary. I just don't understand what was going through 343i's mind when they were making these decisions.

I do like Spartan Ops though...the one thing that actually sounds like an improvement. Here again though, I don't understand. Why would they so blatantly copy Call of Duty. They take Cod points from Black Ops, Frank even said he loved Black Ops for that so I know that's why they're doing it. I mean I like the idea, but this is bad marketing. Why call it "Ops" if it has episode like atmosphere and has a developed story component. I feel so confused as to why they are going out of there way to make it sound less of an evolution and instead more like cod.

I think instead of saving halo and doing a lot of hard work they gave up. They could have evolved off of Halo CE, 2, and 3, but they were too into the game by the time everyone hated Reach. Using the same engine, they just decided to take Reach and update it with cod like features to catter to IGN and save any hard thought of evolving halo. I'm being really harsh right now and probably unjustified, but the more I read the more I'm disappointed. It really feels like they made this game to get good reviews and entice cod players. I enjoy cod btw, but this is not what I want halo to become.

I just finished getting all the skulls. I didn't bother doing much of the achievements. I did go through the terminals though.

If the victims of your grenade spam were Jackals, I wouldn't mind.

Oh and there's something amusing that I just encountered today. There's 1 Spec Ops Elite on The Maw that is the most foolish Elite I have ever seen. I ninja'd to cover before he could spot me, crouched and shot my gun, he walked towards me, spots me and points, and what does he do? He just stands there with his gun lowered. xD Often, he'll turn is back on me. I'll get footage of it soon. I got some entertaining assassinations using this. This could also be used for SLASO, just to reduce grenade spam.

Giving your marines plasma pistols is actually really effective. Even in their dumb state. Here are some pro tips for your jetpack.

1) Make sure to always jump before you use it.

2) Use it in short bursts to optimize the full gauge.

Actually it was a group of three jackals and those pesky hunters guarding the top.

I have high hopes for the campaign. Maybe they don't care about MP, but the least they can do is make a good campaign. And I have to admit, it looks good so far.

You just lost absolutely all credibility by linking to "Halo4Follower". If you think anything he has to say is worth your time, your opinion isn't worth mine.

(I know it's harsh but I can't help it. The guy fell for a "Halo 4 leak" that was obviously Crysis and was made specifically to make fun of him. The guy even said it was before when posting it. That's sad.)

As for what I said about matchmaking in a competitive sense:

The only way to have a "true" competitive match, by my standards, is to have it planned. There has to be some sort of "referee" or rule set that has to be followed. In short, it has to be structured accordingly. Matchmaking can not allow for that.

I agree with what Invasion said, though. I like having settings that would be acceptable for competitive play while playing casually in matchmaking. That actually makes it fun. I'm really hoping they have a playlist on the first day that has settings very close to basic Halo. I wouldn't even really mind sprint being there to be honest.

I'm going to be the black sheep here and also say I'm thinking I might enjoy the changes. I've been thinking about this non stop since I heard about it and I finally started thinking about this stuff in a Halo game. It actually sounds pretty good to me in a completely casual setting. I think I'd actually enjoy it more than base Halo for when I'm bored and want to have some fun with matchmaking. I know most people will want to murder me in cold blood for saying this but I'm willing to take the heat for it.

On a final note:

Campaign: It looks very interesting. Every single screenshot I've seen is breathless and I can't wait to get my hands on it. For the first time in a long damn time I've been as interested (possibly even more) in the campaign of a Halo game as I have the multiplayer. New enemies, new weapons, unbelievable graphics for the 360, forerunners, etc. One hell of a way to revive this aspect of the game that I've felt was dead to me since Halo 3.

If it makes you feel any better I'm not subscribed to his channel and I think I left a comment somewhere complaining that he puts "Ft. Chris" when all he does is regurgitate information that he reads online. Also, the powerpoint he did with that video was good. Probably his best video yet, but again I'm not a fan of him in general.

I enjoy cod so it's possible I could enjoy the changes, but it's impossible for me to think that it will be at the same level I enjoyed Halo CE. I've hosted LANs at my house until this year, and I'm really missing it. :(

You guys can stop complaining about ranked and competitive halo. I 100% disagree with you, but there's no point to debate it. It isn't ever coming back, and that's just the truth.

The game will be casual, so let's get passed that and just focus on the important things. If the multiplayer is unbalanced and gimmicy than I won't be wasting time on it. I can't have fun in a game that puts luck over structure.

To me, I think they destroyed the atmosphere of halo with Reach. I didn't like the campaign at all because it lacked subtlety. It felt like Micheal Bay + Trekkies made it. If the cinematics are like that and not like Halo 1-3odst (jumping to conclusions at 6 AM aren't I) then halo is dead to me.

Actually it was a group of three jackals and those pesky hunters guarding the top.
There's a way to stop the Hunters from spawning:

Park the hog next to the door that the Goldie's guarding, get out, repeat until you end up on the top of the geometry. From there, jump into the next room and you'll have skipped Shafted. Now it's just a short walk or drop to the cartographer. After activating it, just get the camo and run past everyone. For the Zealot, I like to assassinate him all the time.

Funny thing is I did the above door skip method multiple times with no difficulty on Halo PC yet I can't do it in CEA. 40 frustrating minutes spent trying. I thought CEA was based on NTSC PC... I'm going to have to cancel my Silent Cartographer SLASO run due to this inconsistency.

Alright.

Edit:

Goddamn, I take off a few skulls and it feels so -blam!- badass right now. Eyepatch doesn't feel like a handicap and I'm getting sweet, satisfying kills. The best part is, some of those kills are by a marine gunner!! I gave up on the door skip and went straight towards the security area.

Without Recession holding me back, Foreign killing my beloved game, and Boom making gameplay too easy or too hard, I'm having a blast!! :D

I do find it funny how everyone in the Halo community talks about how casual a new Halo game is. It's like they don't realize all the Halos were casual with a competitive mask on. I know this might get some pretty upset, so I'll put this here to make it better.

I've noticed some weird things too. For one I cannot do the bridge jump like I could on the classic version.

Oh Syx you ignorant fool! The wheels of console gaming never stops turning! That's why I'm going to introduce you, to the brand new XIM3! And, with only 16.99 plus shipping and handling, you can get the Rosewill RM-5000L 5000 DPI Laser Gaming Mouse (w/ Adjustable Weights) added unto that! But wait! That's not all- Okay I admit, that's all I got.

xD!! I know about the XIM3, trust me! I might be getting one fairly soon. :D I was specifically getting it for when Halo 4 came out but I'm wanting to use it for 3/Reach now since my interest is rising in those games again.

Truth be told, though... I have a really hard time using kb/m with <60 FPS xD I wish I could try out the thing before spending $150.

On a side note, at first glance that mouse looks good. I might have to check into it further once I'm finished playing on the PS3 with my girlfriend. I've always wanted a mouse with adjustable weights...
