I hope when we use their guns, it will be just as effective. It would be a terrible inconsistency to see Elites getting raped by the new enemies but the dropped weapons from the new enemies being underpowered against Elites when used by us.

Nonetheless, I'm looking forward to potential 2 way battles.

I agree , if used ,targeted correctly , they need to be as effective , but with weapons that good the enemy will need to be clever , i wonder how , or what will be the difference between difficulties , i wont , i need a legendary campaign that is difficult , that will take days , hopefully weeks to complete .
I finished reach first run threw legendary in 2 night's , that's to quick ,i was gutted .

Yeah, there should be things like weak spots and headshot bonuses.

Indeed. Raw power and brute force would be good enough but we don't want good enough. We want godly, as in they outsmart us.

Reach Legendary was only difficult because the enemies were cheating bastards and allies were nothing (they had 0% distraction potential). Noble Team was only useful (barely might I add) because they were invincible. Also, Noble Six was -blam!-. Really weak health and shields, really weak gun damage (in comparison to the Covenant). Melee damage was ok but cqc was either too easy (Elites berserked way too much, retard turning melees made it easy to go around Hunters, H2 esque lunge) or freaking impossible (Elites can kill you with 1 melee if your shield was slightly damaged).

The AI really must suck at cqc to require so much bs.

This is fail:
11) Cover Up Weaknesses with Design

Also, the AI isn't very good at dealing with close targets moving quickly, so the design was extended to give them powerful melee attacks.
And this was after improving their tracking. In the end, cqc was ruined. Really lame when I get easy kills because of a flaw. Even in CE, I had to be careful when exploiting those flaws.

The increased tracking means I can't do any fancy movements to get under their skin. Not that I would need to since their melees open them up to attack.

I sometimes wish it was like this:

-big melee ranges
-no lunge
-slower tracking
-no homing fuel rods

But H4 may be enough to change my mind and convince me that lunge is ok.

They are in 2 completely different ballparks even though they are from the same franchise.

Halo 2 and Halo 4 cannot be compared.

Are you -blam!- serious? What the hell is up with people like you who always say things can't be compared? What can be compared according to you? How the HELL is Halo 4 in a completely different ballpark from Halo 2!?

To compare and contrast two separate things they have to have differences. If both the things are the exact same thing there is nothing to compare and contrast at all.

I can compare the fun of playing Halo to going to a water park if I damn well please. What makes two things can be compared and contrasted? Think about it. You don't choose which one is better/worse from looking at the similarities alone, you look at the differences. Differences direct your choices. The two things have to be different in some manner for you to be able to contrast them. I don't know where the hell this popular belief things have to be the exact same damn thing for them to be comparable came from. Next you're going to tell me playing a game on the Xbox can't be compared to playing the same game on the PS3.

(Sorry if I come off as extremely hostile but it's been getting on my nerves recently.)

I ♥ Bungie!

I think (and this is my OPINION) that Halo 4 is going to beat all other Halo games into the ground.

We will see.

The Covie animations look fine and dandy but they still seem Reachified:

-slow Jackal response, almost deaf
-Elite charging straight forward at Master Chief instead of doing zig zags like the new enemies
-retreating new enemies leave themselves open to attack from behind (though this could be just to lure Chief into an ambush)

Finally, if H4 Zealots don't have leap melee, then I can't say that they are better than CE Zealots. CE Zealots were the best Zealots in Halo even though they had flaws and were easily destroyed.

I wouldn't look into any of this too seriously. It's most likely that the AI has been altered for it to look good while presenting it at E3 live. The part where the elite was running at you was all set up to show the Promethean enemy disintegrating him. It would have been much less interesting if he was zig zagging his way to the Chief running straight at him.

Before judging AI in a game through a gameplay trailer you need to learn to distinguish real AI mechanics from obvious setups. Pretty much every enemy encounter (Except for a select few) were obviously unnatural to normal gameplay for the purpose of being cinematic.

I know how to distinguish. I spent years with Halo AI for God's sake! But I'm setting that aside for now. Don't take me wrong. I'm not being harsh on the game. I love H4. I'm just identifying things.

How could you stick with Bungie after what they did in their last days with Halo (H3-Reach)?

-invisible barriers in low or accessible places
-10 second countdowns
-ruining friendly AI for no valid reason
-sacrificing canon and realism for gameplay
-ruining the AR (weak as hell) and needler (op) while making the plasma rifle underpowered on Legendary (in Reach). And don't get me started with the plasma pistol overcharge spam
-forcing players to ration their shots (Bloom)
-essentially untouched checkpoint system (it needed a heck lot of refining imo)
-Wraith, scorpion, hog, Banshee, nearly every vehicle is op while too susceptible to small arms fire. Vehicles are often death traps
-last Bungie Day was a disappointment IIRC
-Reach Demo is a disappointment (on the other hand... it could have been Microsoft's decision to screw it up)

I'm looking forward to Halo 4 after seeing 343's work on the friendly AI (restoring to them to H2/H3 aggression in CEA firefight).

-Agreed
-Jetpacks my friend. They did overkill it in Campaign, but the Jetpacks in multiplayer would have been crazy
-Agreed
-*Claps*
- I personally dislike AR's and needlers, so my opinion has a multiplayer bias. And I can't imagine a Halo were I had resorted to a PR on Legendary, I would expect it to be underpowered. And perhaps rank (for grunts) should decide whether or not they can overcharge?
-Stupid indeed
- You might notice checkpoints more so than others...
-Agreed
- Isn't everything Bungie last did?
- Seemed fine to me, they showed off most of the weapons and units.

The ODST's are still very slow, purposely because of code they put in AI's to slow reaction time.
