If practice makes perfect, and nobody’s perfect, what did you find in the graveyard? Why did you punch that little girl? Who is the milkman?

Why do we say that god is beyond our understanding? That itself, is a paradox, so why is there pink lemonade? How do they decide who makes pizza? Which word describes red?

If you can look puzzled, and since puzzles and jigsaws are the same, why can’t you look jigsawed? Where does Dr. Phil live?
How is your headache going?

So I was talking to my friends about which Halo game was best, and I was going on about Halo 3 when I remembered how fresh and sweet ODST was. The weapons were sweet, Firefight was flawless and HUD was breathtaking...

Just wanted to post this... hopefully you agree with me, maybe the game gets an upswing.

Halo 2 > Halo 3 > Halo 3 ODST > Halo Reach > Halo CE

Based on campaigns.

I loved it until the half assed disappointing ending. Firefight is still fantastic

The first week yes.

Then I realized that the game was boring.

By the power of truth, I, while living, have conquered the universe.

I still play it quite often, definitely my favourite Halo game in terms of story (Halo 2 a close second).

The art design is perfect, the contrast of New Mombasa at night with the daytime levels is stunning. The soundtrack is absolutely beautiful, Marty's most versatile compositions IMO; not to mention the audio design for Sadie's Story which is still one of the most engaging stories in the Halo universe for me.

I think the ending was satisfying from the fact that it did what it was supposed to do - lead into Halo 3. What I was annoyed about was that we never got anything following up the story of ODST with Buck's squad that gave their story any kind of closure.

"Where ere thou hast been, here or in yon world manifest? Canst thou tell what is, or what was, or what is to come? No thing shall last. Yet there are some things that will never change. History is written in blood, yet are battles really lost on the battlefield? Canst thou tell me where thou comest, and where thou goest, and what is, or what was, or what will be? For everything remains, AS IT NEVER WAS."

I'm with ya, OP. I still play ODST quite often, perhaps not so much Firefight as I do the campaign. It always bothered me that when you saw the orbital tether in Halo 3, the Marines would say that it fell when the city was glassed. Yet in Halo 2 that wasn't a glassing, so it always confused the hell out of me. I love that ODST explained it, even though the tether still didn't fall during the glassing exactly. I still enjoy the campaign very much, and can't quite understand why people find it so disappointing.

IMO the ending was a stupid half assed attempt to tie in these characters with the main trilogy, which was totally unnecessary

A bunch of ODSTs crash land in a city. Fair enough. Suddenly, its 'oh look a pink floating thing that knows about the Ark, lets save it to make the events of Halo 3 possible and to tie ourselves in with the main trilogy'

It should have stayed irrelevant to the main trilogy and instead do what it was supposed to do, show a more human side to the war

This man, this man right here put it so eloquently that I actually cancelled my own 2000+ word long post.

The person who said participating is important, not winning, obviously never won anything.

I love it.

Second favorite Halo game. The music, getting to play as an ODST, and the general urban combat and scenarios were amazing.

I would have loved to see what Bungie could have pulled off it were a full three year project.

You do know that these two things are not mutually exclusive to one-another, right? It can tie in to the main trilogy and still be a human story, and that was exactly the purpose of the game - bridge the gap between Halo 2 and 3 to provide a greater amount of context for fans who didn't read the Uprising comic and do it through a human perspective.

This goal was accomplished with flying colours in my book, it's the most down to earth (no pun intended) Halo game through the juxtaposition of the ODSTs and Sadie's Story. The story structure of Dante's Divine Comedy allowed Bungie to fully explore the themes surrounding humanity at the time (e.g. the corruption with Kinsler).

Vengeance only leads to an ongoing cycle of hatred.

ODST was a superb game and underrated. It's not surprising that it's still awesome. I still play it from time to time (and should really play it more often). It was done wonderfully and is really a treat to true Halo fans.

I would say the fantastic score is ODST's strong point - though nothing can beat the Halo Trilogy simply for the higher and bigger story alone.

In my opinion ODST should have been the three year project and Reach should have been left for a future project.

"Living in the past is a luxury none of us can afford..."
"I know what the ladies like..."

The point Bungie was trying to make, story wise, with Reach and ODST was that as amazing and brave as the Master Chief was, like all heroes of the past, he would not have been able to do as much as he did without the help of a few unnoticed heroes. I think that's what makes the whole series amazing. We get the trilogy, an epic about the typical hero, but then we also get a realistic look into this universe via the side games which show us that the war had more than just one hero.

I agree. ODST was the best Halo game after Halo 2.

Where's the surprise here? ODST has the second best campaign of all Halo games.
