Subject: You can lock the thread, but leave the poll unlocked as an option.

I came for Halo, but I heard the Tru7h, fought thru Carnage, and stayed for Bungie.

Poll: You can lock the thread, but leave the poll unlocked as an option.  [closed]
Want it:  32%
(11 Votes)
Don't want it:  68%
(23 Votes)
Total Votes: 34

Does anyone else want this as an option? I get annoyed when appropriate threads with polls are derided by flamers, trolls, etc. enough that a mod has to lock them down (or for other reasons), thus also closing the polls. I don't care if the poll thread would still be buried soon after, we could still save the poll and link it when a new relevant thread comes along to get more votes. It would definitely cut down some on repeat threads, don't you think?

Edit: As long as the poll question, answer options, and description do not break the Forum Rules, the forums would benefit from polls being able to be left open separate from the rest of the thread by the mods if they so choose.

Please stop complaining about the 'death of a loved one' it's my job. They probably deserved it anyways. Here's a warning, if you keep making pentagrams out of the neighbors livestock I will personally come to your house and kill everyone you love. Now leave me alone, I got to get back to work.

No. if it was locked, it was locked for a reason.

^^That reason isn't always the poll question or description.

It'd be somewhat convenient; but I don't see it being used that much. You'll probably only get two or three more votes before it falls into the void. And if it's been locked because of the posts that other users have made in it, it's probably been around long enough to already have gathered enough votes to for a good statistic

  • 03.21.2012 10:17 AM PDT

No, what if the reason the poll was locked was because of the poll. For example a Rude Poll ect. The Poll has been locked for a reason so.. eh.

^I said APPROPRIATE poll threads

Encourage people to go to inappropriate and hence locked threads? Really pointless, OP. And threads are repeated daily, OP. There is nothing anyone can do about it and it is far from a huge deal.

I know it would fall into the void, read my OP. And you can never have too many votes.

Why do people in ship mutinies always ask for "better treatment"? I'd ask for a pinball machine, because with all that rocking back and forth, you'd get a lot of free games.

Maybe in order to understand mankind, we have to look at the word itself: "Mankind". Basically, it's made up of two separate words - "mank" and "ind". What do these words mean? It's a mystery, and that's why so is mankind.

As the official poll police on this site, I disapprove.

There was a poll about whether polls kill threads. It ended up getting lock and we have no answer to whether or not polls kill threads.

pollception?

I already read your original post CoRaMo. Shouldn't it be obvious by the fact that I posted a reply as if I have? And saying "read my OP" has just as much weight as if I was to now tell you to read my post. If my statement was obvious enough to you, then it was merely true.

"You can never have too many" is no argument, as I've already said that it's nice to have the few more votes, but merely said that it isn't nice enough.

There are clear benefits, but what are the disadvantages?

I <3 you too Bungie

This just seems like one more piece of functionality that doesn't really fit into the current version of bungie.net.

And my two cents: Thread linking is really annoying.

Nothing yet, besides the usual (wasting the Webteam's time, wasting the website's space, inconveniencing the moderators, &c).

Sure, whatever, I was merely listing out "the usual".

You're really defensive, CoRaMo.

Yeah, I kinda am. I just don't like how you used the word "waste." It has a very negative connotation that other and just as suitable word choices such as "take up" don't have nearly as much.

I never understood why people put polls in their posts in the first place.

Polls add information through statistics in a more organized way than a regular topic can through individual posts, as long as all possible answers are included choices.
