The "tactic" i am referring to is Camping on glitches and places that bungie did not intend to be reachable, and give the human player an unfair advantage over everyone else in the game, in the Living Dead playlist., in Reach.

I am Talking about the Boardwalk Map

Now before you read this I am NOT talking about people just hanging around the Balcony and not moving. I am talking about cheaters getting to places that Bungie does not mean for player to be able to get to.

Many are familiar with the spots in Sword Base, but Sword Base has for the most part been fixed of these locations.

There are many different locations that a camper can perch to get an unfair advantage over the opposing Zombie players, plus get an advantage of his/her Human teammates by getting kills at a much longer range with little danger on his/her part, also he does not protect his teammates really if the Zombies get in close.

The most popular are the tallest pole of the Three-Sided Flag in the center of the courtyard.

The windowsill to the right of the map (if you are at the balcony above the courtyard facing the waterfall at the bottom of the center stairs).

The various awning central pillars that stick out the top of the awning

The two most unfair are used a little less often but are the worst of the bunch, one is located behind the Glass Barricade/Railing at the back left-hand corner of the map (Again if facing the waterfall behind the center stairs), it makes it impossible for a zombie to get a kill without also killing himself/herself.

The last one is on slope at the top of the building tha forms one side of the courtyard and is directly above the courtyard patio.

Bungie has fixed this areas in the Boardwalk variation Deadwalk, but the orginal map is woefully mistreated by the cheaters.

I usually just forget about the cheaters as they are rare, but my last game I played on boardwalk I had no less than 5 different people using these locations, and It is REALLY starting to annoy me.

PS Sorry for the confusion, I had a different title explaining what this was about but I did not realize adding a poll would change the title, again sorry.

I admit to being a little sore in the derriere but it does not stop this from being an unfair tactic and a tactic that bungie did not intend to be used in gameplay.

Don't play reach.

Halo 2 > Halo 3 > Halo 3 ODST > Halo Reach > Halo CE

Based on campaigns.

Don't play lol Living Dead then. It's one of the worst playlists in Reach.

Why? Because its not 100% competitive and serious?

  • 03.21.2012 10:41 AM PDT

I actually enjoy it for the most part, and these cheaters are not in every game, but boardwalk has them in pretty much every game.

I mainly played Living dead because, quite frankly when I first started playing Reach I sucked bad, and in LD me sucking doesn't hurt my team, also LD has made me better, and it is pretty fast paced.

It also forces players to play as a team if they want to survive.

But I have started branching out to other games

Yes it's a legit tactic. Learn to play together as zombies.

  • 03.21.2012 10:58 AM PDT

I've never played LD so how would the zombies work together to get the guy off of this pole?

  • 03.21.2012 11:05 AM PDT

Well the best way would be to use 2 ore more Zombies as a distraction and have a third zombie sneak up behind, but this only works if the other human players are dead, as the only real good place to get to the flag percher is a favorite spot for human players to corral together.

and the other spots leave you wide open for a pistol shot by the same human players.

Thus the Flag Percher is almost always the Last Man Standing, and he/she did not get it thru skill he/she got it through use of an unfair advantage.

Can a zombie jump up and sword him?

I mean assuming no one else was shooting at the zombie?

Or is the guy on the pole literally untouchable?

  • 03.21.2012 11:12 AM PDT

You cannot get to the player from the ground, but if you are playing an Ld game where the Zombies have the sprint ability you can jump at him from a nearby ledge or balcony, and like I said these spots are nearly always deadly to zombies, In fact I have yet to a game where they are not, so it is unreachable until every other human is dead, and the percher earns the Last Man Standing Medal, which is pretty hard to get when playing fairly.

The Flag spot is the least annoying because while it is still not supposed to be a spot where you can play, once the other humans are dead it is not that hard to get to.

This is all of course provided the zombies have the Sprint ability, if the Zomblies have the Evade ability it is virtually impossible to get to the flag percher even if the humans are all dead. As you cannot get the running jump the kill requires.

The Human players always have the sprint ability so they can get up there, the zombies either have the evade or the Sprint ability, but only one, what I mean is that the game chooses either evade or sprint at the start and ALL zombies have that ability for the rest of the game.

Boltshot = mini shotgun

Legit, but cheap.
All the alleged cheaters are doing is exploiting flaws in a map.

  • 03.21.2012 11:43 AM PDT

I still consider it cheating myself, and the reason I am posting this is to draw more attention to it.

To hopefully get bungie to take notice like they did with Sword Base and fix these flaws.

Cause just one person sending in complaints won't really make them notice but If I can get more people to say something then they may notice it.

This. If the game lets you do it, it is part of the game.

Deal with it, OP.

  • 03.21.2012 11:53 AM PDT

No, since the game was made by humans and not a God it is highly possible for there to be error and flaws in the game, which is what these are, they are not meant to be used in game play.

If they were, "part of the game", then the multitude of spots in Sword Base would still be accessible.

What is stopping you from using these exploits yourself?

  • 03.21.2012 12:22 PM PDT

Hmmm, because it requires no skill other than jumping, breaks the gameplay, and would make me a hypocrite?

Do you play by the rules of the game, or your version of the game?

Well I play to win, but I am not some child, who is so full of themselves that they feel they mut buck up ever they have to do something they are told to. Like Rules and Laws.

Chamberlain enabled Hitler because he as an idiot and refused to see what was right in front of him, not because he followed the rules.

And not even gonna comment on the TV show.

Rule following generally in real life leads to good things and enables society to function.

to other i know this is a bit heavy for a game forum but I am not the one the brought in the "WW II was started because following the rules is wrong" thought.

Grow up.

Akuma is not like a tower in an RTS that is accidentally too powerful or a gun in an FPS that does too much damage.

I think this is the case with that pole from what OP is describing.
