There are some very interesting literal similarities between the studio releases of the band Nine Inch Nails and the names used by bungie in the Halo Universe. I originally noticed this after playing through Halo CE on Xbox in 2002, and I don’t know if anyone else had noticed or posted on this as well. And because I’m bored and I love the hate I thought I would post this anyway. So I have listed all the similarities I know of, maybe there are more, so feel free to add them. Perhaps these similarities are just a coincidence or maybe a part of some sort of DaHalo Code Conspiracy, who really knows :)

All the officially release NIN albums and singles are given a “Halo Number” probably to encourage fans to collect “The Halos”. Though the NIN’s current discography has climbed to Halo 21 the early era releases have names that are interesting in a Halo sort of way. So here are the first ten titles names along with type and year of release:

Halo 01 Down In It (single) 1989
Halo 02 Pretty Hate Machine (album) 1989
Halo 03 Head Like A Hole (single) 1990
Halo 04 Sin (single) 1990
Halo 05 Broken (EP) 1992
Halo 06 Fixed (remix) 1992
Halo 07 March Of The Pigs (single) 1994
Halo 08 The Downward Spiral (album) 1994
Halo 09 Closer To God (single) 1994
Halo 10 Further Down The Spiral (remix) 1995

Incidentally most of these early Nine Inch Nails releases were co produced, engineered and sometimes remixed by renowned record producer Mark Ellis better know as “Flood”.

NIN first studio album release was titled “Pretty Hate Machine”. Sounds a lot like how a Halo can be both pleasing to the eye with its Earth like eco system, while at the same time harbour something so vile (The Flood) and destructive on a galactic scale (Halo’s Weapon Systems)

“Sin” which has the Halo number Halo 04 featured a cover that was arranged by UK’s “The Designers Republic”. It featured the word “Sin” and a “NIN” logo in a broken contemporary font similar to that used for Bungie’s Halo. Also Installation 04 which was Destroyed it in Halo CE by the Master Chief and Cortana, was considered a pretty big “Sin” by the covenant, even Cortana had to question whether the course of action she took was justified.

Broken was the title of Halo 05. I wonder how that might tie in with "Delta Halo" Installation 05?

Finally way back in October of 2002 in an issue of Rolling Stones Magazine, Nine Inch Nails front man Trent Reznor was reported to have actually delayed work on his newest album in order to clock Halo CE. He said
“Halo is a spectacularly done piece of work. I got it right before I was going into the studio. I thought, ‘OK, to get on with my life, I better just finish this thing.’ It put me back a few days. But what’s a few days when there’s something important to do?”
I wondered if he noticed any of the similarities as well?

I heard they prefer Metallica at Bungie Studies.

Apart from Frankie, he's more an Andrea Bocelli type of guy.

He's blind.

I can't believe I just read your whole post on that. Just wanted to make sure before I said this....

Hell. No. Coincidence? Probably. Now, I don't have the soundtracks, but is there even one song on the Halo:CE, Halo 2 Vol. 1 or Vol. 2 soundtracks that was written by Nine Inch Nails? If the answer is no, then sadly, you just read WAY too far into that.

Pavarotti pwns Domingo, and ate him for breakfast.

He has a 1337 stomach capacity for Tenors.
