About a week ago I made the mistake of going into Team Slayer as a 33. I hadn't played any games beside a couple of training games in about three months. That didn't even matter. I got matched up with a 37, two 35s, and a 33 on the other team, and a 28, 29, and 31 on my team. That didn't matter either, we got stanbyed - BY THE SAME PEOPLE twice in a row, then got bridged.
However on the other hand I would hate to see the effecient rank system gone. I agree with BF2's medal system, however it should be added on to Halo 2's rank system rather than either or. Personally, I would not even bother to spend hours on a game with no ranks... I'm just like that. I like to think I accomplished something with the hours I've wasted on videogames.
Bungie's current software is under par for getting the job done but buttom line is in a year or two on the Xbox 360 Bungie is probably going to have better ways to track down cheaters.
As well, they know glitches in Halo 2 and how they happened, so they won't do that. We can expect no superbounces. Also, we'll have at least 5 months of no cheaters as we'll all be playing on disc maps, and there is still no modded dashboard for the 360 so there is no way to mod if new maps pi[do[/i] come out, but we can't expect that to hold...
As for bridging and standbying, Microsoft and Bungie alike have been studying this to some extent and now know more about it, the more you know the more you can prevent.
Unless some new type of exploitation comes out for Halo 2 that is unstoppable, I could see the rank + additional rank or other system in Halo 3 for the Xbox 360.
