Host need to be sovled and ranks need to be hidden for h3. Just let h2 die, no more updates and crap like hiding ranks and fixing the cheating problem. The y still cheat it is just most cheaters are done cheating, like the ones that are in the 40s right know. (Not all just most like 95%)

YOUR ABSOLUTELY RIGHT, Halo 2 is done. Leave it alone. Let the cheaters have thier haven in halo 2. This is all about Halo 3!

I agree 100% that ranks should be hidden, not eliminated, but hidden. The only return argument to that is people saying things like "stop complaining", or "just deal with the cheaters"...I'm sorry but I would rather deal with zero cheaters than even 1, and even that slight improvement makes the game better. That is why I am making this post. It's not complaining at all, its simply a suggestion that I feel would better the MP in Halo 3.

If some people MUST have an achievment or some king of incentive to play, other than kicking ass online, than points could be added to your Gamerscore.

Also, I dont understand why people feel the need to yell out their rank. I'm a 25, and if you look at my games, it took me less than a week to go from a 0 to 25, I havnt really played online for months, and if I had kept playing I'm sure I would be in my 30's. However, I still want the ranks hidden, I really get not satisfaction from being a high rank, I get satisfaction from owning.

Sega Mega Drive, Golden Axe and Sonic all day!

halo 2 is most certainly not done. it still gets 3000+ unique hits a day, no other game on live is doing that 2 years after release.

since when has halo ever been a proper team game? even in skirmish or big team battle everyones still doing their own thing.

i got modded yesterday in snipers, the "ub3r" mod where someones got control of your spawn point, and just makes the whole team spawn in the air over and over. dropped down to 20 that night, im now a 24 again :)

Quae caret ora cruore nostro?
P.S. I love you.

STOP! For one second and think before you jump on the no rank bandwagon. How exactly will having no ranks stop cheating? The sad little kid who has to standby because he cant bear to loos can still do so. The people who get a buzz out of team killing can still do so. It wont affect modding because the Xbox 360 has not yet been hacked (and hopefully wont be). The bridgers can still do so as well. So (in my opinion) removing ranks will only reduce the competitive atmosphere of the game which will mean less people will play it.

Devil is Double is Deuce and Joker always trumps Deuce.

There are far more legit players than there are cheaters. That small percentage of cheaters does not warrant getting rid of the ranking system. If you take that away, you're basically accomplishing what the cheaters want. They'll have effectively ruined the game.

Has anyone here played Halo CE online? If you have then you know damn well that it was very competitive. There were no ranks, and only bootlegg Gamespy or XBC to play on. You had to find games yourselves, play off your computer, and I never played against cheaters.

Also, cheaters dont want to ruin the game. It seems to me that they just want to get a high rank, by seeing a high rank by their name, they feel like they've earned it. How would taking ranks away ruin the game anyway? Maybe ruin the game for a cheater, because they dont have enough skill be gain legit levals, and now if they cheat they will have nothing to show for it, except being banned...

They should keep the ranked system. It is fun to play with friends and earn an "achievement". Yes, modders do cheat so they can get a rank they dont deserere, but in halo 3, cheating, hopefully, will be reduced. Bungie, hopefully, will not put the modding code on the game, and thier cheating system is imporving. Today there are a LOT less people cheating, bungie is able to catch cheaters much quicker, and ban them. Maybe by halo 3 it will be kinda solved. I know it sucks to be cheated and watch your rank go down that you worked hard for, but the rank system is what in fact makes the Live fun.

YES, i completely aggree with ImABigWeirdo

Ok so maybe a points system would be better for kills, like when defending the flag carrier or killing the opposing team in general. Teamkills regaurdless of if they where by accident would require a subtraction of anywhere between 1.5 to 2 times the amount of points you get for proper enemy kills.
About keeping the rank system, when you think about it I really don't care what bungie or microsoft are doing to stop it because everyone knows that, the guy who gets banned is the one with an extra three month card sitting right next to him. "O I got banned" "I'll just make another acount" The only way to fix it is to kill it. no more ranks or a system of checks and balances via points. And ya know what regaurdless of what people may think of ranks being the end all be all of halo let me tell you something. If you don't want to play without a number nextg to your name to tell you how far you've come you should think about not playing, you don't need that its all about competition and if they hide the ranks than thats what will take place. Competing against people on your level the way it was supposed to be. Halo didn't have it and didn't need it. Pick up halo CE and check it out. You don't need a rank. and won't have a reason to cheat.

I highly doubt they will take away the rank system. ITs good marketing and makes good gameplay. If you are still whining about cheaters, STOP PLAYING HALO 2. Since Bungie started banning bridgers, I haven't played any one Modding or bridging/standbying.

If anything were to happen to the ranks then they should be made hidden so that all you get by boosting your level is harder opponents and nothing to show for it.

However that should not be necessary, for the 360 has yet to be hacked (with the exception of playing Copied disks)
The 360's hard drive has been acessable since the day it came out. People can put hacked DLC on it just like with Xbox 1.

I think the reason there were so many cheaters and standbyers to begin with is because Bungie underestimated the ridiculousness of some kid who can press a button labelled "standby". We all agree that it's not cool to cheat. We can't agree that taking the ranking system or adding the medal system will solve the problem. The ranking system is fine the way it is. When you come here and start posting radical suggestions of ways of removing cheaters, then their goal is acheived. They don't want high ranks, they want to piss you off. So when you come here and start whining and saying the game is dead (which it is far from), you're only empowering their cause. To get rid of them, all you have to do is REPORT them. That's like, you know, what the whole feedback system is for. If you start a Team Skirmish, for example, and you get modded, then you try another one and get modded again, try a different playlist. It's not that hard. Taking the ranking system won't stop cheaters. They don't want high ranks. My cousin standbys SOCOM 2 for ps2. I've asked him a number of times why, and he says he loves hearing the -blam!-ing of people when they are cheated.

and taking away the rank system would just cause people to not take matchmaking seriously and either quit out or not try.

Just a note I thought that the networking was much better before the standby "fix". They had to make it so that when 20% or more players lose connection from the game, everyone has to sit through a reconnecting screen. That as opposed to having everybody's connection hold their own weight and the guy quitting not interrupting the game, it did blue screen much less back then.

Ok your saying that the feedback system is the best way to deal with them. Ok Have did you read what bungie wants you to do when you have someone you know is cheating. They want you to 1: report them via the feedback system 2:Write bungie on the website about them where, when, who did it. 3: Get your friends to do the same.
Think about it who has time to do that -blam!-! I'm tring to play a video game! Figure it out number ranks alone and the special avatars that go with them can bread competition but it also is a recipe for the abuse of the system and microsft and bungie can not get rid of them. Especially when its so easy to make a new account.
