Subject: Did human civilians evacuated Earth under invasion?

Covenant did not attack everything at Earth, only attacked handful cities/countries such as Cleveland, Antarctica, Yucatan Peninsula, Cuba, Mexico and New Mombasa (Africa).
Then how can you explain the number of about 300 survivors from the betsarium?

300 survivors of what? Besides at the moment Halo canon states that those are the only places The Covenant attacked. It's canon, that's it. Unless 343i releases what exactly happened on Earth we'll only have those stories. (Assuming that ridiculously low number is the number of survivors on Earth)

Half of what I say is true. The other half are also lies.

I don't think Earth was evacuated. In Halo 3 ODST, when you collect the audio files and see Sadie's story you learn something important. Sadie is talking to her dad and he says "We don't know why, but New Mombassa is the only place on Earth where the Covenant are attacking".

Think about it. The Covenant want to start the great journey so bad. They are within arms reach of completing their goal, so naturally they focus on achieving it. They don't waste time trying to kill the rest of the humans during the Invasion of Earth.
That was under Regret. Once Truth arrived, he had plenty of ships to spare to have fun. There were known attacks all over the planet such as in Chicago, Australia, Mexico, Antarctica, Cuba, Cleveland, and Afghanistan. With that said, and with the claims that about [b]200-300 million[b] survived Earth gives me an idea that they were either exterminated or evacuated.
Holy -blam!-...only 200 million to 300 million? Wow that's surprising. Don't we have like 6 billion people on Earth today?

heheheh, Canada and Peru didn't get hit...

7 billion now. Why are there people in antartica?

The betsarium said those are the numbers of people left on Earth. They were either exterminated or evacuated.

This man, this man right here put it so eloquently that I actually cancelled my own 2000+ word long post.
/slow clap for respect

The person who said participating is important, not winning, obviously never won anything.

Tribute was attacked and glassed by the Covenant.

It is said in Dutch's description.

The attack has probably been changed in severity. The Fetcher in one of those new First Strike Adjuncts says that his fiancé lives there, and that there is also a University still standing. There must still be some degree of Human presence there.

I guess us Canadians took a stand and started pasting anything that came close? That or we hid in massive underground bunkers.
(Maybe Truth secretly likes maple syrup?)

Why attack Antarctica? There's literally nothing there except ice.

The Covenant attacked Mexico? Bet the Cartels there didn't take kindly to the alien invaders... Scary thought, every single crime organization in Mexico working together for the same goal.

@mojeda101, I thought it was Pakistan and not Afghanistan. Though given the powder keg that is the Middle East, maybe Pakistan entered expansionist phase and conquered Afghanistan?
Sorry, got off topic.

I'm gonna finish it. Just like Jigga did to the pyramid.

Did they have to be evacuated? Why not just stay on the planet where the covenant wasn't operating. The covies prioirity would have been the portal so why bother invading?

Waypoint Moderators aren't really Moderators, just power hungry and its goal is defend their beloved Halo at all costs. (Meaning that they wank Halo too much.)

BS Angel is alleged foe so, be wary of Waypoint and its moderators! Do not attempt to move to Waypoint. Enter your own risk.

*WARNING* IT IS MY OPINION.

evacuated.

There you go. You got your own answer. *bolded statement*

IIRC, it's from Halo 2.

Are you dumb? There's dozens of bases down there, and 500 years from now, I'm sure there would be a city.

It's similar in other games such as Homefront. Turns out street gangs in LA put aside their differences and worked with the LAPD and turned their small towns into rebel strongholds.

It was Pakistan, my mistake.

Then what would be the point of rebuilding the colonies? You bring like 85% of the human population back to Earth with that number...

  • 03.25.2012 4:53 PM PDT

They were most likely sent to inner colonies because the outers wanted nothing to do with them. Even after the war, tension with the Outer colonies was still high because they felt that the Inner colonies left them to die out there.

There are more colonies than just Earth in Halo 3.

This is quite an interesting topic. Do we know where the evacuees were sent? Asteroid belts and Moons were mentioned?

  • 03.26.2012 3:43 AM PDT

Viva La Revolution!
Social Infection ftw

I'm pretty sure most of Earth was NOT evacuated, as the Covenant only attacked a few specific spots on Earth. I can assume that the inhabitants of those specific spots were either wiped out or evacuated to somewhere else in Earth.

I'm pretty sure that's heresy, and that it conflicts with the "Code of Manliness" - page 792, section E subsection D paragraph 3.2. I suggest you relay that statement.

How big was the invasion of Earth? We know that the convenant didn't expect humans to be there. Could people have just moved to other areas of the Earth?
