OK, so now I'm getting a Hardware Acceleration Failure message from Halo PC, I've run DXDIAG and all the tests were successful. Why won't Halo play?

Yeah but Halo PC is giving me this error it says something about dxdiag is not there, put it there then continue or something. I used Windows Search and serach it, and just pulled it out from there and no PC won't run. Doesn't it go in System32 or something?

When I run it, it just shows me stuff about my computer, what do I do then? I clicked saved and it went to My Documents but I get the same error. Harddrive acceleration error.

1. No, not shaded in, my computer rapes, my friend and I (mostly my friend) built it using really freakin expensive parts, in 2001. Windows XP Pro x64 $400 ATI Sapphire Radeon videocard, DVD-R drive, 340 GB harddrive... like I said, it's good for an average home computer from 2001. We just got a Maxtor 200 GB harddrive and the Sapphire Radeon a year ago though. NEVERTHELESS...
2. Sorry for triple posting, wasn't really thinking.
3. I'll try the page... but do I need genuine Windows?

EDIT: What IS Microsoft's Halo PC page?

DOUBLE EDIT: is it http://www.microsoft.com/games/halo/default.asp, if so I'm there.

TRIPLE EDIT: OK, great, I downloaded like all the patches and put them in the Halo folder, and now I get the dreaded "GATHERING EXCEPTION DATA" message. Wonderful.

(see, I edited)

1. Either some bug has gotten into your hardware and is eating up
2. Your version of Halo isn't cut out to hold so much data and graphics in your computer that it's gone rampant.

Stupid parents let their stupid children play games that are rated M when they should be playing Big Birds Spelling Adventures

Also the AR is actually good in CQB now and no longer a glorified baseball bat.

You install the patches. You don't just put them in the Halo folder.

So I installed the patches, the game runs until I search for games online. Right after it says Checking For Updates.... it freezes, I can't ALT + CTRL + DELETE, I have to reboot.

I'll try again later, but I know it's not my computer because I formatted the harddrive about a month ago and it ran fine, until I reformatted it that is. This is my first time installing it before the formatting, I'm pretty sure it's just a patch error, but we'll see.
