Subject: The Ideal BNET Member

Hello, I'm Mr AwesomePizza. I like pizza and I'm a man. Reasoning for the name. I like to listen to the classics of music, write poetry, play video games, and much much more. I'm always down for a nice chat, so please hit me up for some conversation.

I was thinking, and I started wondering what the ideal member of BNET would be. You know, the perfect member. The member that everyone would look up to. The ideal qualities of a member. No names, just qualities. We're talking about a totally fictional being.

Well I would say that the ideal member would have to be this:
- No bans at all, maybe just one warning
- Stays on topic all the time
- Makes threads that are hot topics on a regular basis
- Meaningful posts
- A Mythic member (Not to be mean, but they're considered the elders here)
- Liked by the mods
- Liked by other users
- Nice to everyone
- Has contributed positively to the Community (Done something that changed the Community.)

What about you guys, what do you think the ideal member qualities are?Posted by: Mr AwesomePizza
Guys, this is all fictional. I never said this is a real person, it's just my opinion of what would be the poster boy/girl of the Bungie community. It is impossible to be what I listed, reason for it being fictional. Please don't flame me because I have a different idea of a perfect member than you. We all have various opinions on what would be ideal as you can tell from this thread.
I don't see how you all would think that this person is a jerk since they've never existed, and they sound perfect to me.

Of coarse this is impossible. Reason for it being ideal. Please have fun, don't bash what others opinions are.

Making hot topics on a regular basis does not make you a good member... most mythix dont post threads here...

I dont fit most of those qualities...

But that is just my opinion on an ideal member. The perfect member. I don't fit mine either. I want to hear what yours is.

Didact's Reprisal -
Now is the time of our unworlding
One final effort is all that remains
And I am not afraid
We shall fulfill our promise
We fight for the grace of the Mantle
And this time none of you will be left behind

Sounds like a person who'd likely be full of themselves. I usually avoid those folks.

Judging by the state of the Community Forum recently, these are mutually exclusive.

The ideal member would be unique. And someone who does not conform to any fascist ideology about what an ideal member should be.

To me, it'd be:
-Enjoys his or her stay on Bungie.net.
-Tries not to make Bungie.net less enjoyable for others.

That's just about it. There are more things that are preferable, but unnecessary.

Well, Sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
- Stays on topic all the timeNot even our mods do this 100% of the time
- Makes threads that are hot topics on a regular basis The popularity of a thread =/= a good thread.
- Meaningful posts
Every post should make me stare hard at the mirror, and make me think I'm not doing enough to make this world a better place. Every.
- A Mythic member (Not to be mean, but they're considered the elders here)
Member titles should have little to do with anything. Their post should not carry more weight simply because he has a blue title.

- Liked by the mods
- Liked by other users
Well that's all subjective, but whatever.
- Nice to everyoneDamn, everyone?!
- Has contributed positively to the Community (Done something that changed the Community.) Yeah, I guess. Kinda. To me, the ideal user is someone who just simply doesn't break the more obvious rules, and can treat another user with some common courtesy. There's no real way to act, or behave on Bnet (except maybe not act like child throwing a tantrum). You might just post in groups, or actively post in only one forum, but that doesn't really mean your doing anything wrong.

It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial. And it is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves the flag, whose coffin is draped in the flag that allows the protester to burn the flag.Father Dennis Edward O'Brien, USMC

My ideal members posts 1000 times a day. I find it entertaining.

I don't think perfection is even possible. I don't think you can apply any portion of perfection to anything as complicated a as person. I think its a mistake to even strive for perfection.

This right here, is as close to it as anyone can, or ever will be. Enjoy your time here, and don't ruin it for anyone else. Simple I know, but that doesn't make it any less accurate. Well put Izak.

This sounds like the perfect member, I got some of those things that listed, but I am not perfect.

Not a single ban. Just one warning.

I agree with most of these, apart from the Mythic part.

I've seen regular memebers contribute more to the site than some of the Mythics around here.

Titles are just a bit of fun. They do provide a snapshot of how long you have been around, and what sort of poster you are, but that's it.

That actually sounds kinda like the opposite of a person I'd like.

EDIT: I suppose you'd like elaboration.
- No bans at all, maybe just one warning
Bans/warnings are irrelevant, and I'm being completely unbiased. Plenty of the best people on this site have quite a few bans. They really mean nothing. It means they messed up in the past. Just because someone posted in the wrong forum or made something that was considered spam doesn't make them less "perfect" than anyone else.
- Stays on topic all the time
Yuck. I just realized that I would despise that. Someone already pointed out that none -- yes, none -- of the mods even stay on topic most of the time, and although I admit that's pretty irrelevant, it goes to show how common it is to stray off here and there. If the forums were some sort of penitentiary for discussion I'd leave.
- Makes threads that are hot topics on a regular basis
I don't know if you've seen any of the hot topics recently, but they've really, really proven that hot topic != quality thread.
- Meaningful posts
And who's to say what's meaningful?
- A Mythic member (Not to be mean, but they're considered the elders here)
Someone had to go and push that button. I get what you're saying, but nah. I don't think the Mythics would like someone like this anyway. They'd make him their -blam!-es and paddle him all day. They'd each take turns making him their slut. Poor guy.
- Liked by the mods
- Liked by other users

Popularity != character, unfortunately.
- Nice to everyone
I don't suppose this would be a bad trait to have.
- Has contributed positively to the Community (Done something that changed the Community.)
So he's not perfect until he's done something? HM, MR. PIZZA? HE'S NOT GOOD ENOUGH UNTIL HE'S DONE SOMETHING?

Your standards are high, sir. I don't think there's such a concept as a "perfect member". I don't want there to be. The best anyone can really do is just chill. You can't really gauge performance on a forum.

Hoohohohoho, ouch!

Valid point, however; perhaps both. Maybe I don't like that idea because it is quite different from me... or perhaps I am not that way because I don't like that idea. I used to try to do most of these things, but lately I've just decided to give up because it's not worth it and there's just so much bull-blam!- I find it hard to not call people out, which has probably hurt my rep in the past weeks. I've just been on edge recently.

Good point, though, even though it did come off a little cocky and condescending.
