I bet atleast 80% of you remember the Halo 3 map Isolation. Yah, the really small one with the flood infections all over the place.
Last night i wanted to remake a Halo 3 or Halo 2 map, so i went looking thought the options. Gaurdian: been remade countless times by players. Lockout: My friend made a remake of that, and I didnt want to copy him. Several maps later, i decided, "why not Isolation?". Sure, it wasnt the best map, but i figured, i'll REMASTER is, not REMAKE.
The difference between Remaster and Remake? Well, a remake is an exact copy of the map with possibly different textures and colors and maybe even different weapon spawns. a Remaster, is a map BASED off of the original one, with changes made varying from taking out a small room, or even to changing the size of the map completely!
I didnt want to take it too far so i kept it relatively the same size. I went to work quickly and the top level (grassy part from Halo 3) is an almost exact copy, minus no slopes (all flat surface) and all metal and rocks. Then i started the second level, this was challenging.
The cave lower section was the area with the most changes compared to the original map. Instead of two small chambers with openings that reveal the main tunnel, i created two large chambers, with no view of the tunnel, no mazes, and a ghost in each one.
The main tunnel was shrunken in size immensely, making it more into a hallway. Now, you may remember the original ghost spawn from Halo 3, well, thats been replaced with a Revenant. also, in the tunnel/hall, originally in Halo 3 it had a Rocket Launcher in it, now, a Fuel Rod Gun.
The weapon spawns above have DRASTICALLY changed turning it more into a level appealing to all 3 major styles of gameplay (Long, Short, and Vehicular combat) The upper level now consists of Sniper Rifles, Grenade Launchers, a Sword, a Shotgun, a Focus Rifle and Plasma Repeater, and more.
everyone who has played the map likes it way more than Isolation, so i was wondering if you guys could try and tell me what you think of it.
it should be on my file share. if not, i will upload it when i get a chance and then post it on here. thank you for reading this
