Over time, I have read many theories about the Halo universe and all of its mysteries. I have pretty much made up my mind that the forerunners were humans, and the humans today are the descendants of the forerunners who escaped to the ark (Earth) after the Halos were activated.

Now, since the Halos would have wiped everything living out in the galaxy except on Earth, Then where do the Covenant come from? Think about it. The humans on Earth after the blast should be the only living beings left in the galaxy. One could argue that the Covenant races simply evolved from scratch on distant planets after the blast, and eventually studied and worshiped forerunner tech, but how could they ever become more advanced than us? If anyone could explain this or tell me if I am missing something, It would be greatly appriciated. I was going to wait for Halo 3 to give me my answer, but I doubt it will since this question is so far fetched.

Ok, first, when the Halos fired, humans would be killed off just as much as any other sentient beings.

Second, the Covenant came from whatever source everything else came from. What is this, you ask? We don't know. No one has proof of anything. Understand? If not, try reading the books, and all the other source material out there. If you can't find it in there, then there isn't any proof of it, except possibly in the Halo Bible.

also take in fact that halo covers 3 galaxi radius, maybe the covenants homeworld was too far away from the blast? lol

I guess I'm not really looking for a direct answer. I'm just throwing the question out there. I haven't seen anyone bring this up before so I thought I would.

my opinon is that hte ark is somekind of device that shields you from halos blasts, i belive that the forerunners whom i belive to be human in a desperate atempt to stop the floods advance retreated to earth and activated the arc and all 7 halo's. the energy required to use this machine may have deactivated all of the forerunner rechnology and so they had to leave the ship and start a new life on earth- aka the begining of our history from adam and eve
now as for the covenet i belive that they were probably on a distant plante farr away from our halo's and over time evolved adn i do recall a elite saying in the book halo:the flood "Haha projectile weapons so primitive, how did we ever stand using them" i may be wrong but i tink i remeber that it was when the elite killed esing lovell
im not sure though
so i thik they started like us and them moved on and found forerunner techonology which advanced there own very fast and tahts how they got ahead of us and eventually found the humans

Thanks Dizzy, I read your thread.

I like the idea of them being more advanced just because they studied and used forerunner tech.

Well, it depend by what you mean by "sentient". 100,000 years ago would our ansestors be considered "sentient". Maybe thats what happend the the Covienent, they evolved into intellegence abou the same time as us, but becuse the Prophits had the Forruner tecnology on there home planet they had a head start. And the entire time they they grew relient on that technology, and never fully understanding it, the didn't improve. And you souldn't jump to the conclustion that the Forruners are ancient humans. Just look at the fossile record. And ware did all that Forruner tech go? Why would they just throw it away?
