343 is talking about the last reclaimer who activated the halos when he says "you".

In The Flood (the book) 343 passes the comment that the Chief is wearing a level 2 (i htink) combat suit, and should upgrade to a level 12 for killing the flood. The thought occured to me that Human technology is evoloving the same way forerunner tech did.

There aren't any time repeats or overlaps in Halo, besides the few weeks lost between Reach and Halo due to the crystal.

Exactly, this is all crazy. No where does it say if halo is deactivated time will repeat. The monitor is just crazy and thinks the Chief was the last forerunner who activated the ring, Which is why he is always confused when the Chief doesnt know something about Halo. When the monitor says says why hesitate to do something you've already done its because the Chief already got the index and was about to activate Halo.

"why would you hesitate to do something that you have already done?"

NICE work digging up those quotes! Your theory is the best ive ever heard, and even if it turns out to not be accurate, you can all bet your life that the above quotes from 343 will have something to do with it!

I bet the cheifs goal is to change the course of time, and make a new future, breaking the ring of time itself, and in the end, killing the real symbolic halo. Time.

great finisher to your theory.

Btw, a light year may be a measure of distance, but it can also be a measure of time. A light year is simply the distance light can travel, going the speed of light(299 792 458 m / s)in one year. A light year is about 9,500,000,000,000 kilometers. When you speak of light years as a factor of time, you are talking about the speed of light as a factor of time.

Such as the distance of the sun from Earth is 40,000,000,000,000 km. That means that it takes 4.24 years for light to reach us from the sun. So yes, lightyears is an ethical measurement of time.

I really like this theory, it's been one of mine that I've held close for a long time. But the connection that I failed to make was that the trailer may as well be what Gravemind has already seen.

343 Guilty Spark isn't crazy, or corrupt for that matter. In fact, since he was created by the original Forerunners, he is nearly flawless. If not completely. He just assumes that if the Cheif is going to be on the Halo then he's already been schooled on why he's there, and much more.

Lee Harvey Oswald, shooting from the top floor of

your theory sounds very good, i think that gravemind dosent want all sentient life to die because he feels bad for us that we keep turning back time and it dosent effect the flood.

All good questions, and I cant tell if you re directing the questions at me or not. I actually have no idea, and the we get into the meat of this story it gets more and more confusing/complex. I dont have the answers though, and im not sure how to speculate.

Anybody else know?

He also says seconds before that, that the halos would deactivate after a certain amount of time (2 million light years?)

Light years is not a measure of time...

I like the idea but, remember that the Halos have only been fired once, so if time repeated itself in the loop you are describing, the Halos would have been fired countless times.

this could all be very very true, and i have been thinking for a long time that maybe master chief will change the course of history. Maybe he wil break this continuos time circle and save humans.
But as i said in a post about a different theory, all of this is a speculation, and we will not know the answers till the game comes out, do to the fact that bungie is trying to keep this as secret as possible

When I die please bury me deep!
Place an MA5 down by my feet!
Don't cry for me, don't shed no tear!
Just pack my box with PT gear!
'Cuz one early morning 'bout zero-five
The ground will rumble, there'll be lighting in the sky!
Don't you worry, don't come undone!
It's just my ghost on a PT run!

Well I think we also have to look at how the Halo rings acutually kill the life forms... Like if all it does is shoot a gaint shock wave that kills everthing.. doesn't that still leave everything that isn't alive? Like buildings.. space ships... stuff thats oribiting earth that would crash since everbody aboard is dead. Now if time would repeat it self, wouldn't there be ancient cities everywhere right now..? Now even if the Halo rings did destroy all of that including life... what are the chances of things going EXACTLY the same way everytime?

Like lets say in the process off all this everything on earth is dead and destroyed and a rouge asteriod comes crash's into earth bescues theres nobody alive to stop it from coming, and changes the way Life is formed on the world. Like there way to many things that could go different.

Like would there be a asteriod that comes kills all the dinours every single time?

It's possible. But no ones saying the Halo kills them all the same way everytime. And no one's saying that before the first time the Halos were activated that there was life on Earth. The Forerunner Tech was left over. And Gravemind stopped Delta Halo from being activated this time. There's a number of factors that could make this time different, that doesn't necissarily mean that every time before wasn't the same.

i read a post about the humans being forerunners... And im sure youve all heard all about that... enough to make you gag. But this post threw words at me that made me think of something else. And it has to do with the universe and time repeating itself

343GS: Last time, you asked me, if it was my choice, would I do it? Having considerable time to ponder your query, my answer has not changed.

The AI's words are refering to detonating the halos to kill off all life. He also says seconds before that, that the halos would deactivate after a certain amount of time (2 million light years?) He also asks the Chief why he would hesitate doing something that he has allready done.

Those words are chilling if you understand it's meaning. That means that after the halos deactivate, time repeats itself, and sooner or later the chief will do everything hes done again. Its as if time was a ring, has no begining, no end, and you will eventually hit the same spot again, and again.

Other words that are chilling is cortanas word in the trailer. "I know you. Your past, your future."

Many believe that those words are gravemind and cortana's and if this is true, gravemind might perhaps be something that isnt affected by the halos. And can live through time because he never dies. He must be a flood god of some sort, and he knows the past and future, because he has lived through it... countless amounts of times because times is reoccuring.

I bet the Halo 3 will reveal all we need to know about how time is reoccuring, and i bet the cheifs goal is to change the course of time, and make a new future, breaking the ring of time itself, and in the end, killing the real symbolic halo. Time.

This has already been posted.

hmm i kno in the books about that artifact that bends time, but halo will suck if its just a repeat of the past, the matrix was ok but the idea neo wasnt the first realy made him look less badass, i hope bungie dnt make the chief just the nth person to deactivate halo etc as i mean it would make the game seem meaningless

Interesting, this post makes a whole lot of sense, I can't really find a flaw to this. It could happen in the haloverse.
