I didnt expect so many people to like my theory... and im even more shocked that no flame war has started (please dont jinx it)

Anyways, I too think it makes perfect sense, but i also so everyone elses point and reasons why it might not be true. I think that this theory is pluasable, but all in all its a toss up.

And, I too think the gravemind is madd cool! ;)

i read a post about the humans being forerunners... And im sure youve all heard all about that... enough to make you gag. But this post threw words at me that made me think of something else. And it has to do with the universe and time repeating itself

343GS: Last time, you asked me, if it was my choice, would I do it? Having considerable time to ponder your query, my answer has not changed.

The AI's words are refering to detonating the halos to kill off all life. He also says seconds before that, that the halos would deactivate after a certain amount of time (2 million light years?) He also asks the Chief why he would hesitate doing something that he has allready done.

Those words are chilling if you understand it's meaning. That means that after the halos deactivate, time repeats itself, and sooner or later the chief will do everything hes done again. Its as if time was a ring, has no begining, no end, and you will eventually hit the same spot again, and again.

Other words that are chilling is cortanas word in the trailer. "I know you. Your past, your future."

Many believe that those words are gravemind and cortana's and if this is true, gravemind might perhaps be something that isnt affected by the halos. And can live through time because he never dies. He must be a flood god of some sort, and he knows the past and future, because he has lived through it... countless amounts of times because times is reoccuring.

I bet the Halo 3 will reveal all we need to know about how time is reoccuring, and i bet the cheifs goal is to change the course of time, and make a new future, breaking the ring of time itself, and in the end, killing the real symbolic halo. Time.

I hate what you wrote...its stupid...just kidding...Nice theory. I like the part about time being a ring. It makes a lot of sense. Why else would the constructs be a ring.

I really think you're on to something here E. There are a lot of allusions to time warping (not star trek) in the novels, especially in First Strike. I think the kicker is going to be what happens if/when Dr. Halsey shows up with Kelly. Perhaps they will show up years after the conflict concludes due to the strains on the timeline?
