Subject: When you first joined the community..

I worshiped anyone with a colored title bar or a prefix when I first started posting.

I thought that posting in the Community Forum would be suicide, because I was an "inferior being".

I was worried I might mess something up when I first hit the reply button. After that, I jumped right in.

This, but I was worried about my thread being locked or me being banned.

Positive vibes.

When I first joined this website, I actually wasn't aware of the community. I got on to check my screenshots, originally.

After a little while, I became drawn to private groups, and eventually I began participating in the public forms.

I can't say I was ever scared, but moreso unconfident.

:)

Was I blinded? Dumbstruck?

Why yes! Well, there was nothing like the feeling of getting on here and the only option was to discuss Halo 2. Being so young at the time you really didn't have any choice but to hit up the New Mombasa forum.

Also, the navbar had a mind of it's own.

It confused me at first ( I am used to the bioware social network). However, Halo is Halo. There is no better word to describe it's awesomeness. I love this site ( so much better than WayPoint).

We don't bite. I didn't start posting till 2010! Eh, I thought it was alright.

My DeviantArt Gallery - For my Photoshop stuff, go have a look!

Joined in the hype buildup to Halo 3, never really posted outside the screenshot forum for a while. Wasn't a fan of everything else, too chaotic compared to a very orderly forum I used to visit.

Want to know more about me? Check out my Community Joes interview.

Trying something once will increace your chances of success, because you tried it. Try someting twice, and your chances increase yet again - seeing as you've done it. Try something a few thousand times, and your chances of success is exponentially increased; this increase would likely provide success every time

I was only 15 at the time, and my hormones were bent on mild to blatant rebellion. I didn't much care what I said, nor to whom, and The Community was something that I just didn't comprehend - let alone care to. I was here for fun, the lulz, and Warthog Ownage.

Two years later and I finally grew up; I actually took the nod from one of the Ninjas to just read the rules, and experience the website outside of The Flood. I still had my moments of: idiocracy, blatant rule breaking, imitation, and flaming - but I was still young. With a few more bans under my belt, I had decided to read the CoC & ToU. That mixed with an old friend/personal inspirator (not a word, but a person who inspired me), I was molded into what you see today.

Today, I'd imagine I care more about The Community than any normal person should. I really couldn't tell you why, but I would imagine it's just my overall character that's changed; actually I'm pretty positive that's why, because. . . well - yea, I'm that guy that tells you your tail lights out even if I have to get out of my own vehicle....

Yet, I'm also the guy that has to control myself to not run someone off of the road, just because they're (IMO) terrible at driving....

I was in a urge to post thoughts, opinions or ideas.

So I started replying threads, until I went to the next level, post.

Then understanding what B.net features offered me, P. groups, etc.

And yeah those famous "inside jokes" still learning from new ones and old ones though.

2/15/12: Francisco Porras, I'll miss you. Rest in Peace.

I felt a little out of place, but stayed because that's just how I am when it comes to new communities/people.

I remember enjoying myself a lot though. There were others with others who had the same interests as me (Halo and Bungie fanboys) and I just loved the forums a lot, the only thing thought is it took me a while to get used to them. Forums were something I had never really used.

EDIT:
Now though, I feel at home, apart of the community, understand how things work, respect others, and enjoy the company of the community while we await the next big thing from the studio (and people) that brought us the best game series we've ever played.

I feel like what I just wrote was the longest run-on sentence ever.

It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial. And it is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves the flag, whose coffin is draped in the flag that allows the protester to burn the flag.Father Dennis Edward O'Brien, USMC

I didn't understand anything at first since they were the first forums I decided to go on, so I lurked for my first 3 months to get to know the place. I gradually started to post more often and then lost most fear of the forum ninjas and other people with colored title bars.

One final effort is all that remains

We shall fulfill our promise
We fight for the grace of the Mantle
And this time none of you will be left behind

There will always be inside jokes. I only joined in '04 and Bungie.net has a lot more history prior.

When I first joined I felt mostly welcomed, especially since there were tons of new arrivals back then as well.
