They lock way to many threads. They have created the *threads of interest* thing and now anything you have to say can go under one of those. But thats not quite how people like forums to be. They should just go ahead and take the *new topic* buttom away, becuase if you use it, your thread will be locked. I do think that it's good not to have every small idea somebody has posted as a new idea, but when some one does have a good, new idea they have to go file it away somewhere not that many people read.

For example,
http://www.bungie.net/Forums/posts.aspx?postID=7105770, was a perfectly legit topic. It sorta deals with gameplay, and multiplayer, but it still deserves its own thread. Also, http://www.bungie.net/Forums/posts.aspx?postID=7106012 also deserved its own thread, but it was locked.

Well, this will probably be locked becuase it doesn't portray directly to halo3, but where else should i put it, other than the flood(no body here goes to the flood)?

|-_/edit\_-| I have read the stickies. |-_/edit\_-|

Fixed your links.

I agree with you. Nobody will read my post that is 16 pages in when the topic becomes 18 in the next minute...

First of all, your links are exactly the same. Second: they did need to be locked, because that idea DOES fall under general Halo 3 ideas.

The new topic button is for new topics. Not topics we've all heard about a billion times, or ones that could be put in a central location for everyone to see and keep track of.

Mods lock posts because they are trivial, repeat posts, or posts that could be consolidated into larger threads. It's pretty siple to follow the rules and read the sticky threads. Just do it, and dont complain.

You people have just sent my sides into orbit. A bunch of MLG try hards sucking the dick of some supposed pro half the thread hasn't even heard of. Classic.

Well I have seen Jim flexing his arm muscles, and I have to say that he looks pretty tough. In reality though he is just a big teddy bear.

Jim can only be blacklisted by Master Ninjas and Bungie online team members I believe. Needless to say that he is enforcing the rules as they should be so he is still around.

Maybe Bungie will make an update containes a terrible flaw and causes you xbox to explode leaving nothing but a black outline where it used to be.

Shhhhhh. That one is still in development.

I hear the best it can manage right now is a small fire. Exploding hardware may sound easy, but they're really hard to code.

Don't click

Riiiight....then why am I not BL'ed yet? You can ask Snakehunter5 about that one too....cause I'm sure he wants to know.

Carried away? Really?

Well just think about it this way, If I were to leave the forum alone for just one day, how many repeated posts do you think would flood in here?

Get over yourself, read the stickies and use the forums correctly, or make your own.

Yes the mods are getting carried away. Right now when they visit this forum they get carried away to a place where it feels like people are sticking bamboo splinters under their fingernails. I vote for the mods to get even tougher. The Ninja On Fire approach would go over real well with you guys. He just staight up blacklists people because of the warning in the sticky. At least Jim points you to it and gives you a second chance.

Or third, fourth and fifth chance...

I know a lot of you are excited. Hell, I'm excited.

But just look at the whole thing logically.
This forum is the youngest forum. Yet it already has how many pages of posts?
You know why? Because you're selfish. You think your idea is better than everyone elses and desrves special treatment. Ironically, it's because of that attitude that most of your posts aren't being seen at all. The other moderators and I are trying to make this forum useable for you. Yeah, we've made a couple catch-all topics, but posting in them bestows advantages that making individual posts don't have.

* Cuts down on Spam
Contrary to your own opinion, your idea isn't any better than 75% of the other ideas out there. Sure, there are some stinkers, but for the most part everyone has some different viewpoint on what they want. Also, by using the stickied thread, you won't lose track of your post and make a new one. That and it won't get locked.

* Odds improved.
Face it, you're posting here for one reason. You want Bungie to see your ideas. Well, pretend you're a Bungie employee interested in what people want. Now click the double arrow at the top of the Halo 3 Forum and start going forward page by page. Yeah, you won't do it, you people don't even like scrolling through 5 pages to find what you want. What makes you think someone who has a full time job is going to have the time? The answer? Centralized threads where they don't have to search around. They probably aren't going to look, but you got a better chance of them seeing your idea there than them looking through 300 pages of topics.

Anyway, let's hear it, I'm leaving this thread open until I go to bed. Go ahead and vent, unless, you've finally gotten past the "I want things my way!" stage.

All I can say is I've helped mod a forum with no where near this many members and that was hella-hard. I actually think you're doin a damn good job and think you put more time into this site then I could imagine.

^ this is a very true statement. I've also modded forums filled with morons intent on being morons. That's no joke, they actually created a subforum so that they could be even more retarded... The ninja's here are doing fantastic. If anything, I'd appreciate them being harder on repeat posts. It's rediculous how many of the same topic are made in one day. ex. at least 4 co-op posts yesterday (5/27/06)

Well said. Many Moderators wouldnt even take their time to explain why, let alone write a detailed explanation like that.

It's alot more organized this way. If there is already a thread containing your topic, Just post inside of it. Why create a whole new thread? As Jim said it sounds selfish. I've been to many other forums where 10 of the same threads topics exist, it gets really redundant. Often times it shows the moderators lazyness. It's refreshing to see moderators who cares about upholding a standard in the forums.

Only thing I have to complain about is having all these locked threads clogging the forums. I wish they would teleport to the back outdated part of the forum.

JIm has patients, AND wit, a deadly combination. I think that the threads are a bit awe-inspiring, I mean just to see how much stuff people spend the time to think about, then actually typing it in, and then responding to it as needed. A lot is going on at the same time, and yet...in two years or more, none of this will matter. We would've finally grown out of our ways and moved on. Funny how that works, isn't it?

Not that I'm trying to flame you, but do you realize how many pages a week goes back? 5 pages = 1 day. It's not a week of repeats that are getting locked. It's the same topic being posted sometimes 4 times in one day.

What if everyone who played Halo just for one day...didnt'. I mean like taking one day to do something other than similating blood splatter, and maybe planting a tree. We could probably save the rain forest, and then some.
